About the Role
Canary The School is looking for an experienced HR Manager to oversee all aspects of human resource management and foster a positive, productive workplace culture. This role will be responsible for talent acquisition, employee relations, performance management, and ensuring compliance with employment regulations while supporting our school's mission and values.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end recruitment and onboarding processes for teaching and non-teaching staff, ensuring we attract and retain top talent
- Develop and implement HR policies, procedures, and employee handbooks in compliance with labor laws and educational regulations
- Handle employee relations including conflict resolution, grievance management, and disciplinary actions with fairness and confidentiality
- Design and oversee performance management systems, including appraisals, feedback mechanisms, and professional development plans
- Administer compensation and benefits programs, ensuring competitive and equitable compensation structures
- Maintain accurate employee records, manage HRIS systems, and ensure data privacy and compliance
- Coordinate training and development initiatives to enhance staff capabilities and career growth
- Manage attendance, leave policies, and payroll processing in coordination with finance team
- Foster a positive workplace culture through employee engagement initiatives, recognition programs, and wellness activities
- Ensure compliance with statutory requirements including PF, ESI, labor laws, and other relevant regulations
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in HR management, preferably in the education sector or service industry
- Strong knowledge of Indian labor laws, compliance requirements, and HR best practices
- Proven experience in recruitment, employee relations, and performance management
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to handle sensitive situations diplomatically
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail
- Proficiency in MS Office application.
- MBA in HR or relevant postgraduate degree; SHRM or equivalent HR certification is a plus
