Payroll Specialist (GSC India)
Reporting to: Payroll Lead / Global Payroll Operations

Location: India (GSC)

The Senior Payroll Specialist owns payroll delivery for assigned countries, acting as the primary interface between Vertiv and external payroll vendors. This role carries payroll sign‑off responsibility, ensures statutory compliance, manages escalations, and supports audit and SOX requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own end‑to‑end payroll delivery for assigned EMEA and AsiaPac countries
  • Act as the primary governance contact for payroll vendors, ensuring SLA adherence and issue resolution
  • Perform detailed review and final validation of payroll outputs, including:
    • Gross‑to‑net calculations
    • Statutory taxes, social security, and benefits
    • Country‑specific compliance items
  • Provide payroll sign‑off approval prior to payment and posting
  • Manage complex payroll changes and escalations beyond analyst level
  • Serve as RSC lead for Asia countries, coordinating execution, issue resolution, and country‑specific requirements
  • Lead payroll reconciliations with Finance and support GL posting reviews
  • Support SOX controls, internal audits, and external audits, ensuring complete documentation and evidence
  • Coach and review work performed by Payroll Analysts
  • Drive process improvements, vendor performance reviews, and standardisation initiatives
  • Support payroll transitions, vendor changes, and system implementations

Key Requirements

  • 5-8 years of experience in multi‑country payroll (EMEA and/or AsiaPac)
  • Strong working knowledge of labour law, statutory compliance, and payroll controls
  • Experience working with outsourced payroll vendors (ADP, SD Worx, or equivalent)
  • Proven ability to manage vendor performance and country responsibilities independently
  • Strong stakeholder management and escalation handling skills

Skills & Tools

  • Advanced payroll systems and vendor platforms
  • HRIS / HCM systems (Oracle HCM preferred)
  • Advanced MS Excel (reconciliations, variance analysis)
  • Strong understanding of payroll controls, SOX, and audit requirements

Languages

  • English - Mandatory
  • One or more regional languages - Strongly preferred (depending on country portfolio)
