Job Description

Job Summary

Synechron is seeking a seasoned and strategic HR Operations & Background Verification to oversee background verification operations and employee mobility processes across multiple regions and business units. This role involves managing compliance, ensuring data integrity, streamlining HR processes, and maintaining strong relationships with vendors and internal stakeholders. The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in HR operations, particularly in background checks within multinational environments, complemented by strong analytical, leadership, and communication skills. This position is vital in supporting talent acquisition, ensuring regulatory compliance, and enhancing operational efficiency aligned with organizational goals.

Software Requirements

  • Required:
    • HR management systems (e.g., SAP HR, Oracle HRMS, Workday) with experience in HRIS and database management
    • Data analysis and reporting tools (Excel, Power BI, Tableau)
    • Database query tools (SQL) for data validation and audits
    • Document management and workflow tools (SharePoint, ServiceNow)

  • Preferred:
    • Vendor management platforms or tools for onboarding and background check management
    • Automation tools or scripts (PowerShell, VBA) to improve HR process efficiencies
    • Compliance and audit management systems
Overall Responsibilities

  • Oversee the end-to-end background verification process for new hires, re-hires, and internal transfers, ensuring compliance with internal policies and regulatory standards across APAC and global regions.
  • Manage employee mobility processes, including onboarding, offboarding, and relocation support, across multiple geographies.
  • Ensure accuracy, confidentiality, and integrity of employee data within HR systems and databases.
  • Develop and implement policies, procedures, and workflows to streamline HR operations and enhance process efficiencies.
  • Provide operational support to internal stakeholders, including HR, recruitment, legal, and compliance teams.
  • Maintain and strengthen relationships with external vendors for background checks and verification services; monitor service levels and quality standards.
  • Conduct regular audits of HR processes, data, and vendor performance, and prepare audit documentation for internal and external reviews.
  • Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives, automating manual processes and optimizing workflows.
  • Coach and mentor HR team members, ensuring adherence to policies and fostering a culture of accuracy and operational excellence.

  • 8+ years of progressive experience in HR operations, background verification, or compliance management within multinational organizations.
  • Demonstrable expertise in managing background verification, employee mobility, and HR data integrity.
  • Proven leadership experience managing teams and supporting cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Experience working with vendors to meet quality standards and SLAs.
  • Industry experience in financial services, consulting, or other regulated sectors is preferred.
  • Alternative pathways include extensive experience managing large-scale HR compliance and verification processes in complex organizational environments.

Day-to-Day Activities

  • Oversee daily background verification and employee mobility activities, ensuring timely completion and compliance.
  • Review complex verification cases, ensure proper documentation, and manage escalation procedures.
  • Collaborate with HR, recruitment, legal, and vendor teams on process improvements and policy updates.
  • Conduct periodic audits of HR data, verification processes, and vendor performance; prepare reports for internal use.
  • Manage vendor relationships, monitor SLAs, and resolve vendor or process issues proactively.
  • Support process automation initiatives to reduce manual efforts and increase accuracy.
  • Lead communication with stakeholders regarding verification status, process changes, and compliance updates.
  • Provide training and guidance to HR teams on verification procedures, policies, and best practices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Law, or related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in HR operations, background verification, or compliance management.
  • Deep understanding of background screening policies, standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience managing large databases, auditing, and vendor management.
  • Certifications in HR, compliance, or related areas (e.g., CPP, CHRP, HACCP) are advantageous.
  • Proven ability to lead teams, support audits, and implement process improvements.
