We are looking HR Manager position who act as a trusted partner by providing local support to people leaders in following business areas and function - Automation Solutions, Tissue, Strategy and Transformation (IT), enabling the people leaders in these organizations to manage their teams successfully in accordance with Valmet Leadership Principles and to ensure one Valmet approach.

The HR Manager will be responsible to support and execute global and local HR processes and initiatives, ensuring full compliance with statutory and company requirements. Owns employee lifecycle topics such as – employment contract, leaves, warnings, termination letters etc., and guides people leaders to successfully manage their teams and employee relations across the organization.

The HR Manager will report to the Senior Country HR Manager, India, part of People Operations India. This position will be located in Pune, India.

Your Responsibilities

HR Operations & Employee Lifecycle Management:

  • Support and execute global and local HR processes, policies, and initiatives in line with Valmet standards.
  • Own end‑to‑end employee lifecycle activities, including employment contracts, onboarding, salary reviews, warnings, disciplinary actions, and termination processes.
  • Prepare, review, and issue HR documentation such as employment contracts, warnings, disciplinary actions and separation letters, ensuring accuracy and legal compliance.
  • Driving Valmet people processes (e.g. performance and development reviews, salary reviews, incentive programs and local benefits, engagement surveys, successor planning), according to Valmet policies and local legislation.
  • Support to execute cross-border assignments (Short-Term and Expatriate Assignments) in coordination with Valmet Global mobility team, home payroll and Valmet India Finance.

People Leader Support & Employee Relations

  • Guide and advise people leaders on Valmet HR policies, employee relations, and people management practices, to ensure one Valmet approach and unified employee experiences.
  • Support managers in handling employee relations matters, including organizational change initiatives, performance concerns, conduct issues, and other workplace challenges.
  • Promote fair, consistent, and respectful employee relations practices across the organization.

Compliance & Governance

  • Ensure adherence to applicable labor laws, statutory requirements, and internal HR policies.
  • Adherence to Valmet's HSE, Leadership Principles and Code of Conduct.
  • Maintain accurate employee records and documentation in line with Valmet internal audit and compliance standards.
  • Act as the first point of contact for HR compliance matters and support audits or internal reviews as required.

Process Excellence & Continuous Improvement

  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of HR processes, tools, ways of working and ensure data quality in all processes and records.
  • Collaborate with regional and global people and culture function teams to ensure alignment and effective implementation of people operations initiatives.
  • Support change initiatives, global and local HR projects, as assigned.

Key Stakeholders

  • Close support and guidance to people leaders and employees in business organizations such as Automation Solutions, Tissue and Strategy and Transformation (IT) in Valmet India.
  • Work in close collaboration with other HRBPs, HR Managers, Generalists and Specialists in Country, Region and Globally across Valmet.
  • Collaborate closely with Valmet Global mobility team for all cross-border assignments.
  • Liaison with External Partners (ADP, Immigration Vendor etc.,) and Authorities for any compliance mattes (e.g. Labour office), as required.

To succeed in this role

Educational Qualification

  • Graduate or postgraduate qualification in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, or a related field

Experience

  • An overall 12+ years of experience across people operations (HR operations) and employee lifecycle management with minimum seven (7) years of strong hands-on experience in guiding and supporting people leaders on people management topics throughout employee life cycle.
  • Working experience in global business and international matrix organizational setup will be an added advantage to this position.

Requirements

  • Ability to independently act as a trusted partner in providing local support and guidance to people leaders.
  • Strong knowledge of end-to-end employee life-cycle HR processes and employee relations practices.
  • Demonstrates sound understanding of Indian labor laws and applies them confidently.
  • High on collaborative nature and maintains positive relationships when working across individuals, teams, functions and with business stakeholders to break down barriers, share information openly and to align the efforts for collective success of the team and business.
  • High attention to compliance orientation - both internal and external compliances.
  • Demonstrate clear ownership for outcomes out of employee lifecycle actions and compliance decisions.
  • Sound judgment, confidentiality, and integrity.
  • Effective communication (written and verbal) in English and in Hindi.
  • Strong working exposure with MS Office tools – Word, PPT, Excel, Outlook, MS Teams.
  • Ability to work under pressure, time constraints to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Ability to travel occasionally.
