About Redwood

Redwood Edutours designs learning journeys for school students across India and the world. We work with 50+ leading IB and international schools, and over 30,000 students have traveled with us. Our programs are built around real places, real communities, and real learning — mapped to curriculum, co-designed with teachers, and delivered by a team that cares deeply about what education can be.

We've grown from a team of 8 to 35, and we're building toward 70. As we scale, we need someone who can hold our culture through that growth — and build the infrastructure that makes it possible.

The Role

We're looking for an HR Manager who understands that in a small, fast-moving team, HR isn't just process. It's culture.

This role covers the full spectrum: recruitment, onboarding, performance, compliance, payroll, and employee wellbeing. You'll work closely with founders and team leads, and you'll own the HR function with real autonomy. Part of the job is managing what exists. The larger part is building what we'll need tomorrow.

What You'll Do

Recruitment & Onboarding

  • Drive end-to-end hiring across roles — screening, interviews, offers, and onboarding
  • Partner with team leads to define what we're looking for and why
  • Design onboarding that embeds new hires into how Redwood works, not just paperwork

Facilitator Community

  • Own recruitment, onboarding, and contracting for Redwood's facilitator network — 120+ professionals across ecology, history, art, education, outdoor facilitation, and more
  • Work with the programs team to match expertise to each journey's needs
  • Contribute to the long-term vision for the community — how it grows, how people progress, and what a sustained relationship with Redwood can look like

Culture & Engagement

  • Build feedback rhythms that are honest and useful — pulse surveys, review cycles, open conversations
  • Support team wellbeing across field and office contexts
  • Be the bridge between our field-based facilitators and our office-based team
  • Facilitate team-building that feels genuine, not performative

Performance & Growth

  • Manage appraisal cycles, KPIs, and growth conversations
  • Support managers in coaching, performance interventions, and role transitions

HR Operations

  • Maintain compliance with Indian labour law and statutory requirements
  • Oversee payroll, benefits, compensation benchmarking, and policy documentation
  • Handle grievances and disciplinary matters with fairness and confidentiality
  • Build the SOPs and HR systems that will support us as we scale to 70+
  • Manage office administration, vendors, and asset tracking where needed

What We're Looking For

  • 4–6 years in an HR Generalist or HR Manager role, ideally having seen a company scale from 20 to 100 people
  • Strong working knowledge of Indian labour law, payroll processes, and HR tools
  • Comfortable working cross-functionally — with both field teams and office staff
  • An empathetic communicator who can also hold difficult conversations when needed
  • Comfortable with ambiguity — you don't wait for a manual, you write it
  • Experience in a startup or mission-driven environment is a real plus
