PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
We're looking for an experienced HR Business Partner (HRBP) to join our dynamic BBC News HR team, supporting our operations across South Asia, with a primary focus on India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Nepal. As we evolve our regional model and deepen engagement with South Asian audiences, this strategic role will be pivotal in shaping a high performing, inclusive, and future-ready workplace. Working closely with an Associate HR Business Partner and other HR services based in the UK, you will lead the HR strategy for the region.

Your Key Responsibilities And Impact
- Strategic Partnering: Collaborate with regional leaders to deliver a people strategy aligned with the region's operational goals, fostering performance and a connected culture.
- Change Leadership: Lead transformation initiatives, guiding teams through organisational change and embedding behaviours that reflect BBC values.
- Employee Relations & Inclusion: Build trusted relationships with employee groups, championing inclusion and belonging across our South Asia operations.
- Compliance & Risk Management: Provide strategic HR leadership ensuring compliance with local labour laws and proactively managing legal and reputational risks.
- Global Collaboration: Represent the South Asia region in global HR initiatives, ensuring local cultural and legal contexts are reflected in enterprise-wide solutions.
- Leadership Development: Coach senior leaders, build capability, and drive accountability to support a high-performance culture.
Essential Criteria
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
We're looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, change-oriented environment and brings:
- Extensive HR Leadership: Proven experience in multinational environments across South Asia.
- Employment Law Expertise: Strong understanding of Indian/Pakistan/ Bangladesh & Nepal's local employment legislation coupled with the ability to manage risk and compliance.
- Change Management: Demonstrated experience in workforce planning, talent management, and organisational design.
- Strategic Coaching: Ability to coach senior leaders through cultural change and drive engagement.
- Stakeholder Relations: Strong relationship-building skills with employee groups, and senior stakeholders.
- Analytical Mindset: Comfortable navigating complex challenges with a data-informed, resilient approach.
Eligibility
This is a local hire position. Candidates must have the right to live and work in India and ideally can travel across the South Asia region.
