JOB DESCRIPTION – TRAINEE MEDICAL CODER

Position: Trainee Medical Coder / Medical Coding Executive

Location: Chennai

Experience: Fresher / 0–1 Year

Employment Type: Full-Time

Qualification: BSc Nursing / GNM / MSc Nursing / Other Nursing Graduates

Job Summary

We are looking for motivated Nursing Graduates who are interested in starting their career in the healthcare IT and medical coding industry.

The selected candidates will be trained to review clinical documentation and assign accurate medical codes for diagnoses, procedures, and treatments using standard coding systems

Key Responsibilities

• Review and analyze patient medical records and clinical documentation.
• Identify diagnoses, procedures, treatments, and relevant medical information..
• Follow established medical coding guidelines and quality standards.
• Maintain accuracy and productivity while meeting assigned targets.
• Identify incomplete or inconsistent documentation and escalate queries when required.
• Maintain confidentiality and security of patient information.
• Keep updated with changes in coding guidelines and healthcare regulations.
• Work effectively with coding, quality, audit, and operations teams.

Eligibility

• BSc Nursing / GNM / MSc Nursing or equivalent Nursing qualification.
• Fresh graduates are welcome to apply.
• Strong knowledge of Anatomy, Physiology, Pathology, and Medical Terminology.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Basic computer knowledge.
• Good analytical ability and attention to detail.
• Willingness to learn medical coding and healthcare processes.
• Candidates willing to work from office in Chennai are preferred.

Preferred Skills

• Understanding of clinical documentation.
• Basic knowledge of healthcare/US healthcare terminology.
• Good typing and computer skills.
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team.
