About The Role

The Production Head will be responsible for leading end-to-end manufacturing operations of a high-volume, technology-driven printing and packaging facility. This role demands strong strategic leadership, deep operational expertise, and a proven track record in managing large-scale, automation-led production environments.

The incumbent will drive operational excellence, ensure optimal resource utilization, and deliver superior quality while managing plant P&L and enabling scalability aligned with global business demands.

Key Responsibilities

  • Production & Operations Management
    • Lead the entire production lifecycle including pre-press, printing, finishing, packaging, and dispatch.
    • Ensure smooth day-to-day plant operations with a focus on productivity, efficiency, and output quality.
    • Drive capacity planning and production scheduling aligned with demand forecasts.
    • Monitor machine utilization, reduce downtime, and ensure preventive & predictive maintenance.
    • Manage large teams including production staff, engineers, and supervisors.
  • Manufacturing Excellence & Process Improvement
    • Implement Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, TPM, and continuous improvement initiatives.
    • Drive automation and digital transformation across manufacturing processes.
    • Optimize workflows to reduce cycle time, waste, and operational costs.
    • Ensure data-driven decision-making through ERP and production tracking systems.
  • Cost Optimization & Productivity Enhancement
    • Own and manage plant-level budgets, cost controls, and operational efficiency.
    • Optimize manpower, material consumption, and machine productivity.
    • Drive initiatives to improve throughput, reduce scrap, and enhance margins.
    • Establish and monitor KPIs for production, efficiency, and cost metrics.
  • Supply Chain & Coordination
    • Collaborate with procurement, logistics, and planning teams for seamless operations.
    • Ensure availability of raw materials and timely dispatch of finished goods.
    • Support vendor development and cost-effective sourcing strategies.
    • Work closely with cross-functional teams for demand fulfilment.
  • Quality Assurance & Compliance
    • Ensure adherence to quality standards and minimize defects/rework.
    • Implement robust quality control processes across production stages.
    • Maintain compliance with ISO, safety, and regulatory standards.
    • Promote a culture of quality, safety, and continuous improvement.
  • Leadership & Team Development
    • Build, lead, and mentor high-performing production teams.
    • Drive employee engagement, training, and skill development initiatives.
    • Foster a culture of accountability, ownership, and performance excellence.
    • Strengthen succession planning and leadership pipeline within the plant.
Key Qualifications

    • Bachelor's/Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Printing Technology, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
    • 15+ years of experience in manufacturing/printing/packaging operations.
    • Proven experience in managing large-scale production facilities.
    • Strong exposure to automation, ERP systems, and process optimization.
    • Demonstrated expertise in cost control, productivity improvement, and plant operations.
    • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
