Profile Brief:
Our client is a Kolkata-based manufacturer of electrical transmission and distribution line hardware and accessories. The company has a turnover of 350 crore, employs around 1,000 people (including contractual staff), and operates two manufacturing units. The Head of Sales will manage an annual business of 350 crore by leading a team of 89 people and will report to the Managing Director.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Sales Leadership & Growth: Drive significant revenue growth, including developing new markets and launching new products. The role involves strategic sales planning, sales forecasting, and overall business growth and profitability improvement.
- Technical & Execution Support: Possess deep technical expertise in power generation, transmission, and distribution, with direct experience in high-voltage systems (up to 800kV+).
- Client & Relationships Management: Manage relationships with key stakeholders and customers, including Fortune 500 companies and major industry players like Power Grid Corp. The role requires managing long-term service agreements and handling the full deal cycle from inquiry to order, including techno-commercial offer preparation and pre-bid cash flow analysis.
- Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a sales team, fostering cross-functional collaboration with internal departments and external customers. The candidate should be a motivator and collaborator, with strong team-building skills.
- Tendering and Commercial Management: Manage sales and tendering operations, including preparing techno-commercial offers and pre-bid cash flow analyses. Experience in winning large industrial/government utility tenders is essential.
- International & Domestic Sales Experience: The role requires extensive experience in both Indian and international markets.
Qualifications & Experience
- Experience: A minimum of 18 years of experience in sales, with at least 10 years in the high-voltage transmission and distribution sector, preferably with an EPC or manufacturing company.
- Technical Acumen: Strong technical background in high-voltage electrical equipment and systems (up to 800kV+).
- Core Competencies: Strong negotiation skills, pricing strategy, customer relationship management (CRM), and forecasting. The candidate should have a strategic, results-oriented, and data-driven mindset.
- Travel: Willingness to travel is required.
