Job Description

Job Purpose:

  • The main objective of this position is to develop a safe working culture and drive the team toward operational excellence by meeting budget plans (Productivity, Quality, Cost, Delivery, Safety, and Employee Morale) while efficiently utilizing resources.
  • Ensure that MCG PPD values are instilled in the team and foster a strong team-oriented working culture.
  • Achieve 100% compliance with processes and applicable laws, while also fostering a sense of responsibility for one's own processes.
  • Develop strong interpersonal relationships with local authorities, administration, industrial associations, suppliers, and customers.
  • Oversee project activities by actively participating, supporting, guiding, and ensuring that time schedules are maintained and work is completed on time.
  • Promote the philosophy of KAITEKI the well-being of people and the planet.

Key Accountabilities:

Operations Management:

  • Accountable for the plant's productivity performance against the budget by ensuring that defined processes are followed rigorously without deviations (Planning, Resource Allocation, and Productivity).
  • Control downtime due to breakdowns and develop and monitor a preventive maintenance plan. Regularly review the plan and ensure that necessary resources are provided for effective maintenance of machine health.
  • Represent MCPP India as the Factory Manager for statutory authorities, including those related to factories, safety, environment, labor, and tax, under various applicable industry acts, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.
  • Plan and allocate human resources to each department, assess the performance of each department, and report to top management for necessary follow-up actions.
  • Monitor security arrangements and advise the plant HR & Administration team on effective manpower management and discipline at the plant. Take appropriate action against individuals causing significant hindrances to facility operations and business continuity.

Finance and Budget Management:

  • Prepare and manage the annual budget for manpower, direct and indirect costs, CAPEX, and cost reduction initiatives.

EHS & Compliance:

  • Take responsibility for developing a safety-focused work culture and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations, as well as health and hygiene standards at the plant. Investigate and report any deviations or accidents to top management. Conduct detailed investigations and develop countermeasures.
  • Ensure corporate compliance is followed, educate team members, and motivate employees to escalate any unusual, unfair, abnormal, or suspicious activities involving employees, customers, or suppliers. This will help protect the company from potential catastrophic situations.
  • Develop strong interpersonal relationships with local administrative authorities to ensure smooth plant operations and full compliance with laws, without deviations. Participate in social initiatives by industrial associations to enhance public relations.
  • Handle audits (internal/external) conducted by authorities, customers, internal auditors, or external auditors. Report the findings to management and recommend actions to eliminate potential future complications and take corrective measures when necessary.

Quality Assurance & Quality Control / QMS:

  • Accountable for the plant's quality performance and fostering a culture of quality awareness among team members. Educate the team on the cost of poor quality.
  • Responsible for addressing customer complaints within the time frame defined in work instructions, SOPs, procedures, etc., by using QC tools for root cause analysis and POKAYOKE (foolproof actions) to prevent NC (in-house rejections) or complaints/rejections.

Material Management:

  • Ensure timely delivery of all products/goods according to the delivery schedule agreed with the sales team and ensure that inventories are maintained as per the plan.

General Management:

  • Ensure the 5S standards are maintained at the plant and periodically review the performance of zone leaders to ensure the closure of open points and observations.
  • Responsible for guiding, motivating, and encouraging the team to achieve organizational goals by fostering a culture of innovation and learning across functions.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Develop a scenario-based contingency plan and share it for approval with MCC to ensure the targeted project schedule is met.

Education and Experience:

Educational Qualifications and Experience:

  • Graduate/Post Graduate in Plastic/Polymer Technology from a reputed institute is preferred.
  • Minimum Diploma in Plastic Technology.
  • 15 years in a similar industry, with a proven track record of leading operations or holding a leadership role.
