Job Description

Position: Head – Estimation (BIM, Digital Construction & Digital Twin)

Location: Durgapur / Madurai / Jaipur / Flexible

Experience Required: 15–20 years

Qualification: B.E./B.Tech in Civil / Construction / Mechanical / Electrical or relevantdiscipline

MBA / PG in Construction Management / Quantity Surveying preferred

This role is a strategic commercial leadership position with defined decision authority,margin accountability, and ownership of estimation governance, tools, and technology. The incumbent will leverage digital tools, automation, AI, and historical data to improve turnaround time, enhance win quality, and safeguard margin realization post award.

Key Responsibilities

Estimation Strategy & Commercial Leadership

  • Lead the overall estimation and proposal strategy for BIM, digital construction, and digital twin projects across global markets
  • Oversee preparation and submission of all estimates, proposals, and commercial offers within aggressive timelines
  • Strategically position proposals to maximize pricing leverage, contract value, and win quality while maintaining competitiveness
  • Participate in client negotiations and commercial discussions to support deal closures on favorable terms

Decision Authority & Bid Governance

  • Exercise defined authority on pricing sign-off ranges, margin thresholds, and bid / no-bid recommendations within approved governance limits
  • Escalate commercially high-risk or margin-sensitive bids directly to senior leadership with clear risk-reward analysis
  • Ensure alignment of estimation assumptions with management directives and delivery realities

Governance Ownership & Standardization

  • Define, implement, and enforce organization-wide estimation standards, pricing methodologies, tools, and approval workflows
  • Establish standardized estimation templates, cost models, benchmarks, and governance frameworks
  • Ensure consistency, transparency, and auditability of estimation practices across regions

Margin Accountability & Post-Award Tracking

  • Own accountability for bid margins versus approved benchmarks
  • Track post-award margin variance and estimation accuracy against actual delivery performance
  • Drive corrective actions and continuous improvement through post-bid and post-project reviews

Technology & Digital Enablement

  • Own and drive adoption of estimation automation, AI-enabled tools, analytics, and digital pricing models
  • Leverage historical data, benchmarks, and productivity analytics to improve estimation accuracy and turnaround time
  • Continuously enhance estimation workflows through digitization and smart automation

Risk & Contractual Alignment

  • Coordinate closely with Contracts Manager to identify contractual, commercial, and delivery risks during pre-bid stages
  • Analyze various contract types and ensure estimation positions are aligned with contractual obligations, LD exposure, and risk allocation
  • Support mitigation planning for identified risks at estimation stage

Team Leadership & Scale

  • Lead, mentor, and scale a multi-location estimation team including estimators, quantity surveyors, and commercial analysts
  • Define clear roles, responsibilities, and span of control across global estimation teams
  • Build succession, capability depth, and domain specialization within the estimation function

Regional & Business Alignment

  • Work closely with Regional Business Development and Delivery Heads to align pricing strategies with regional market dynamics
  • Ensure proposals reflect realistic productivity assumptions and delivery capabilities Act as a key commercial interface between estimation, contracts, delivery, and leadership teams

Continuous Improvement & Knowledge Management

  • Drive continuous improvement through lessons learned, win-loss analysis, and estimation accuracy tracking
  • Maintain a repository of benchmarks, best practices, and historical cost data
  • Strengthen future bids through structured feedback and governance enhancements

Authority, Accountability & Leadership Interface

  • Defined authority on pricing approvals, margin thresholds, and bid recommendations
  • Ownership of estimation governance, standards, tools, and technology platforms
  • Accountability for margin realization and estimation accuracy post award
  • Direct access to senior leadership for escalation of commercially risky bids
  • Strategic advisor to leadership on pricing, market positioning, and bid strategy

Key Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Civil / Mechanical / Electrical / Construction-related discipline).
  • 15+ years of experience in estimation, pre-contract, or commercial roles within BIM, engineering, or digital construction environments.
  • Strong understanding of BIM-led delivery models, cost drivers, and pricing mechanisms.
  • High digital maturity with exposure to automation, AI, and data-driven estimation practices.
  • Strong commercial acumen with proven negotiation and deal-structuring capability.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and deliver high-quality proposals within aggressive timelines.
