The Head of Engineering is the single most important hire to make this transformation real.

THE MANDATE

Standardize engineering processes. Unify the platform. Make teams leaner, flatter, and AI-native. Own delivery and execution. Ship bug-free releases faster across the entire GinesysOne suite.

Key Responsibilities

  • Platform unification
  • Audit technical architecture across all products; identify divergence points and integration friction
  • Define common data models, API conventions, event-driven patterns, and database strategies for all verticals
  • Create the GinesysOne architecture blueprint the north-star reference for all engineering decisions
  • Drive migration of duplicated capabilities (notifications, integrations, UI components, API gateway) to Shared App Platform
  • Establish and track a Unification Score measuring % of common capabilities on shared platform
  • Lead the Architecture Guild with Principal Engineers weekly cross-vertical alignment forums
  • Delivery & Execution
  • Co-own what and when with the CPO shape what gets built, when it ships, and trade-off decisions
  • Drive bug-free releases: rigorous unit, integration, cross-product regression, and automated smoke testing
  • Accelerate release velocity: predictable cadence, reduced commit-to-production cycle time
  • Implement release health metrics: defect escape rate, rollback rate, hotfix frequency, MTTR
  • Manage L3 engineering support hold vertical EMs accountable for on-call SLAs and root cause elimination
  • Process standardization & AI-Native Engineering
  • Standardize coding standards, branching strategy, code review, testing requirements, and definition of done.
  • Mandate AI-assisted code generation (GitHub Copilot, Claude Code) for 100% of developers
  • Implement AI-powered code reviews, AI-driven test generation, and AI-assisted incident triage
  • Implement unified CI/CD pipelines with automated tests, SAST/DAST, coverage thresholds, and security gates
  • Create an engineering handbook single source of truth for standards, practices, and architecture decisions
  • People & team building
  • Hire and develop Engineering Managers for each vertical technically and managerially strong
  • Build the Shared App Platform team by consolidating engineers doing duplicate work across verticals
  • Develop Principal / Staff Engineer track for senior IC leadership without management overhead
  • Unify culture across four acquired entities (Ginesys, Browntape, Zwing, EaseMyGST) into one team identity
  • Establish career ladders for both management (EM Director) and IC (Senior Staff Principal) tracks
  • Quality & reliability
  • Own overall product quality with embedded QA (shift-left) plus centralized Release & Suite QA
  • Define quality metrics: defect escape rate, test coverage, regression pass rate, incident frequency, MTTR
  • Ensure release gate is respected nothing ships without Suite QA cross-product sign-off
  • Cross-Functional collaboration
  • Co-own product roadmap with CPO equal voice on what gets built, sequenced, and de-scoped
  • Partner with Head of Infra & Platform on deployment architecture and SRE practices
  • Enable Ginesys.AI by ensuring product verticals expose standardized data pipelines and APIs
  • Work with Security Lead on secure coding standards, CI/CD security gates, and application security reviews

Required Qualifications

  • 1420 years in software engineering; 5+ years leading 50+ engineer orgs across multiple product lines
  • Proven delivery track record: shipping quality releases on time, reducing defect rates, accelerating cycles
  • Experience defining common technical architecture across multiple products (shared patterns, data contracts,API standards)
  • Track record of restructuring teams to be leaner/flatter and building shared platform / common services
  • Hands-on technical depth: can review architecture decisions and earn Principal Engineer respect
  • Multi-tenant SaaS, microservices / modular monolith, event-driven systems expertise
  • Demonstrated AI-native engineering implementation with measurable productivity outcomes
  • Strong communication; comfortable presenting to CEO and co-owning roadmap with CPO

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in retail technology, enterprise SaaS, or ERP/POS/OMS domains
  • Background bridging legacy desktop/on-premises products AND modern cloud-native systems
  • Familiarity with Indian retail and compliance context: GST, multi-state operations, marketplace integrations
  • Experience leading organizations through AI transformation integrating AI/ML into existing product lines
