Position Summary

Founded in 1999, Magic Bus works with children and young people living in poverty, taking them from a childhood full of challenges to a life with meaningful livelihoods. We equip young people aged 18 to 25 with the skills and knowledge they need to grow to become first-generation salary earners with secure careers in the organized sector. The Magic Bus Centre-Based Skilling program on life and employability skills enhances young people's agency by equipping them with the necessary competencies and supporting them in securing sustainable service-sector jobs. Mobilizing young people to come to the MB Livelihood centres is a critical program component. Each physical centre mobilizes youths from various channels. The youths primarily come to the centre from a radius of 10-20 km. The Head Mobilization at the national level will play a crucial role in leading the Magic Bus's effort to mobilize young people across India and build a strategy around it. It includes identifying and reaching out to potential channels, opening up various pipelines for mobilization, building partnerships with NGOs, Institutions, schools, social media, and communities, and ensuring a steady pipeline of youth into our programs.

The incumbent will be part of the Operations team, which closely collaborates with the program team. In the role of Head, the incumbent will play a strategic and operational role in supporting Magic Bus's livelihood vertical, operationalizing mobilization efforts from the center to the national level, including managing a team of mobilization experts at the regional level and providing strategic support to the center-level mobilizers. This role requires a leader with a strong background in youth connection, youth mobilization, program management, including people management, monitoring, and evaluation of mobilization effectiveness. The role involves ensuring high-quality programme results, mentoring regional teams, and building strong systems of mobilization for scale.

Key Responsibility Areas

1.Strategy Design and Partnership Development for extensive mobilization efforts:

a.Develop a city-wise and national strategy for mobilizing youth into the organization's skilling programmes, ensuring a consistent pipeline and channels of youth for achieving region-wise and center-wise outreach.

b.Refine the mobilization strategy based on data-driven insights and evolving market conditions.

c.Unlock partnerships at the national, state, and local levels with NGOs, CBOs, colleges, government and non-government institutions, skilling partners, and other stakeholders to engage the youth.

d.Identify key decision-makers in partner organizations and foster effective engagement.

e.Lead negotiations and sign agreements / MOUs / LOIs with partner organizations, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and the mobilization strategy. Ensure that agreement terms align with the organization's goals and mobilization strategy.

2.Outreach Campaigns

a.Collaborate with center teams and other departments to align mobilization efforts with overall youth outreach and monthly batch launch plans.

b.Continuously refine data collection methods to secure high-quality youth leads under the D-60 approach.

c.Lead National and Regional mobilization campaigns, targeting areas with significant youth presence.

d.Design effective campaigns to attract young participants to the organization's programs.

e.Design and implement social media campaigns on platforms like Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, etc., to source high-quality youth leads.

f.Monitor and analyze campaign performance lead generation and lead conversion efficacy and adjust strategies as needed.

3.Data Analysis and Governance:

a.Analyze current data sources from youth inquiries (e.g., leads from social media, community mobilization).

b.Develop and implement mechanisms to enhance youth enrollment efficacy across all channels, optimizing processes and addressing bottlenecks.

c.Create and maintain a comprehensive database of partner organizations, including details of signed agreements and their respective youth conversion ratios.

d.Regularly update and enhance this database to support data-driven decision-making.

e.Actively source and analyze databases of young people from various authenticated avenues and channels to identify potential program participants.

Desired competencies

In-depth knowledge of the youth development sector, labour market trends, and youth-related challenges.

Ability to analyze big data of youths from various sources and proficient in data analysis tools and software.

Brings in local nuances while keeping the National-level youth outreach strategy intact.

Ability to work with multiple stakeholders at the Regional and National levels.

Familiarity with government policies and initiatives related to youth empowerment and skill development.

Competent in using social media platforms for campaign management.

A well-established network of contacts within the youth development, NGO, and educational sectors.

Demonstrated experience in leading teams or projects, preferably in a managerial or supervisory capacity.

Strong negotiation and partnership-building skills, with a track record of successfully securing agreements with partner organizations.

Ability to adapt to a dynamic and evolving field, keeping up with emerging trends and best practices in youth mobilization.

High ethical standards and cultural sensitivity to engage effectively with diverse communities and stakeholders.

Qualifications and experience

A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Business, Marketing, Social Sciences, or a related discipline is typically required. A master's degree can be a plus.

15 years of relevant work experience in youth mobilization, partnership development, and related roles.

Prior experience in working with youth-focused programs, NGOs, or educational institutions is highly desirable.
