Role Overview
We are looking for a senior leader to drive the overall vision, strategy, and execution of The Economic Times events.
This role will own the end-to-end events ecosystem, including IP creation, event execution, and community building, with the mandate to scale a high-impact, IP-led events portfolio.
The role requires a combination of strategic leadership, product thinking, and operational excellence, along with strong commercial acumen to build a sustainable and high-growth events business.
The candidate will lead cross-functional teams spanning product & IP strategy, event operations, and community, while working closely with editorial, sales, and marketing teams to deliver premium experiences and strong revenue outcomes.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Vision & Business Strategy
- Define and drive the overall vision and growth strategy for The Economic Times events business.
- Build a scalable portfolio of event IPs across formats, sectors, and audiences.
- Identify new opportunities for expansion, innovation, and market leadership.
- Establish clear success metrics across revenue, audience, and brand impact.
IP & Product Leadership
- Oversee the conceptualisation and development of high-value event IPs and formats.
- Ensure strong positioning, narrative, and differentiation across all event properties.
- Guide teams on event design, content structure, and audience targeting.
- Continuously evolve the portfolio to ensure relevance, scale, and longevity.
Event Execution & Experience Excellence
- Oversee end-to-end execution across conferences, summits, awards, CXO forums, Closed-door roundtables, webinars, etc.
- Ensure best-in-class delivery standards across production, content, and delegate experience.
- Drive operational excellence through strong planning, governance, and vendor management.
- Ensure seamless integration between content, production, and broadcast requirements.
Revenue & Commercial Strategy
- Own the overall revenue strategy for the events business.
- Work closely with sales teams to shape monetizable event formats and sponsor propositions.
- Engage in key client interactions and strategic pitches.
- Ensure a strong balance between editorial integrity, audience value, and commercial outcomes.
Community & Ecosystem Building
- Oversee the development of a high-quality leadership community anchored around ET's event IPs.
- Ensure strong year-round engagement, retention, and participation.
- Leverage the community to strengthen content, partnerships, and long-term value creation.
Team Leadership & Cross-Functional Alignment
- Lead and mentor teams across product, operations, audience aggregation and community.
- Drive strong collaboration with editorial, sales, marketing, and external partners.
- Build a high-performance culture with clear accountability and ownership.
Required Skills & Experience
- 15–20 years of experience in media and events, with a strong track record in building and scaling event-led businesses.
- Proven experience in conceptualizing and executing large-format events and IP-led platforms.
- Strong understanding of CXO audiences, industry ecosystems, and sponsorship dynamics.
- Experience leading cross-functional teams and managing large-scale event portfolios.
- Demonstrated ability to drive revenue growth and commercial strategy.
- Excellent leadership, stakeholder management, and decision-making skills.
- Strong awareness of global event trends and evolving audience expectations.
