Role Overview
The Head Distance Education will be responsible for leading and scaling the University's Open & Distance Learning (ODL) and online education initiatives. This role will drive strategic growth, ensure regulatory compliance, enhance academic quality, and build a future-ready digital learning ecosystem aligned with the University's vision.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Leadership
- Develop and execute the long-term strategy for Distance and Online Education.
- Identify growth opportunities including new programs, geographies, and learner segments.
2. Academic Development & Delivery
- Oversee design, development, and delivery of high-quality ODL and online programs.
- Collaborate with Deans and faculty to ensure academic rigor and industry relevance.
- Ensure effective learner engagement, retention, and outcomes.
3. Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure adherence to all applicable regulatory bodies (UGC-DEB, AICTE, etc.).
- Lead accreditation processes, audits, and statutory reporting requirements.
- Stay updated on evolving policies and integrate them into institutional practices.
4. Technology & Digital Learning Ecosystem
- Drive adoption and optimization of Learning Management Systems (LMS) and digital platforms.
- Integrate emerging technologies (AI, analytics, adaptive learning) to enhance delivery.
- Ensure seamless student experience across digital touchpoints.
5. Operations & Scale
- Oversee end-to-end operations including admissions, content delivery, examinations, and student support.
- Establish robust processes for scalable and efficient program delivery.
- Manage partnerships with technology providers, content developers, and third-party vendors.
6. Student Experience & Outcomes
- Strengthen student support services including counseling, query resolution, and career guidance.
- Monitor student satisfaction, engagement, and completion rates.
- Build mechanisms for continuous feedback and improvement.
7. Revenue & Growth
- Drive enrolment growth and revenue targets for distance education programs.
- Collaborate with marketing and outreach teams to expand reach and visibility.
- Explore partnerships with corporates, institutions, and global platforms.
8. Team Leadership
- Build and lead a high-performing team across academics, operations, and technology.
- Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and excellence.
Qualifications & Experience
- 1218 years of experience in higher education, with significant exposure to distance/online education.
- Proven leadership experience in managing large-scale academic programs or digital learning initiatives.
- Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks for ODL/online education in India.
- Experience in driving digital transformation in education is highly desirable.
