Who we are looking for
The role will be responsible for leading the Expense Accounting and Balance Sheet Substantiation processes globally and will report to the Head of Global Accounting Operations. As the functional leader the expectation from the incumbent is to ensure no surprises, error-free month-close, inspirational leadership embedding a culture of accountability & ownership within the team, trustworthy business partnering while aggressively driving functional capabilities, process simplification and appreciation of business imperatives.
The position carries endtoend accountability for the timeliness, accuracy, and quality of Expense Accounting and BSS deliverables, including monthend close activities, accruals, deferrals, allocations, reclasses, and reporting. This includes ownership of account substantiation, timely resolution of reconciling items and aged breaks, and strict adherence to established substantiation standards and governance requirements.
The role works in close collaboration with State Street Finance leadership, Controllers, FP&A, Internal Audit, and External Audit to ensure strong control outcomes and stakeholder confidence. The position is based in Bengaluru, India.
Education & Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor/Master Degree in Finance or MBA
Accounting Qualification (ACA, ACCA, CPA, CIMA)
15+ years of experience in Accounting Operations, Controllers, Business Controls, Finance & Risk Assurance
Experience of running a large team with global coverage
Experience of leading redesign, centralization, standardization and automation
Knowledge of current US GAAP and IFRS standards
High level of executive presence and articulation
