Role Overview
We are looking for aGIS Leadwith 57 years of experience to drive the design, development, and deployment of geospatial solutions. The candidate will lead GIS initiatives involvingspatial data processing, drone imagery analysis, and scalable geospatial platforms while managing a small team of GIS engineers and analysts.
Key Responsibilities
1. Technical Leadership
- Lead end-to-end GIS solution development (data ingestion processing visualization)
- Architect geospatial workflows forsatellite/drone imagery, vector, and raster data
- Define standards for GIS data models, projections, and metadata
2. Geospatial Data Processing
- Work with formats likeGeoTIFF, KML/KMZ, Shapefiles, DXF/DWG, LAZ
- Performorthomosaic generation, DEM/DSM processing, and feature extraction
- Build automated pipelines for large-scale geospatial data processing
3. Platform & System Design
- Design scalable GIS platforms using:
- Cloud: AWS (S3, Lambda, EC2, Batch)
- Databases: PostGIS, MongoDB (geospatial indexing)
- Processing: Python (GDAL, Rasterio, GeoPandas)
- Integrate GIS systems with web/mobile applications
4. Team Management
- Lead and mentor a team of GIS engineers/analysts
- Review code, workflows, and data quality
- Coordinate with product, engineering, and field teams
5. Visualization & Insights
- Build dashboards and map-based interfaces using:
- QGIS / ArcGIS
- Web GIS: Mapbox, Leaflet, OpenLayers
- Translate geospatial data into actionable insights
6. Client & Stakeholder Interaction
- Work with clients to understand use cases (infrastructure, agriculture, logistics, etc.)
- Deliver customized GIS solutions and reports
- Support pre-sales and solution architecture discussions
Required Skills & Qualifications
Experience
- 57 years in GIS / Geospatial domain
- Experience leading projects or small teams
Technical Skills
- Strong expertise in:
- QGIS / ArcGIS
- Python GIS stack(GDAL, Rasterio, GeoPandas, Shapely)
- Experience with:
- Drone data processing tools (Pix4D, OpenDroneMap, Metashape)
- Spatial databases (PostGIS)
- Cloud-based geospatial pipelines (AWS preferred)
Data & Formats
- Strong understanding of:
- Raster & vector data models
- Coordinate systems & projections
- LiDAR data (LAZ/LAS)
Soft Skills
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Problem-solving and analytical thinking
- Ability to translate business problems into GIS solutions
