At Wind Pioneers, GIS database is one the founding pillars to our prospecting studies and we take great pride in building a vivid multi domain, Global GIS data repository. Hence, the GIS Automation Specialist will be responsible for maintaining our GIS workflows that enable high level of quality across both commercial & non-commercial deliverables.
Detailed Responsibilities
- Design and develop custom geospatial tools, applications, and automated workflows (including standard platforms like QGIS), with a strong focus on Python-based pipeline automation
- Build and maintain scalable systems for processing large volumes of spatial data (including vector, raster, time-series, and 3D datasets)
- Develop, manage, and optimize geospatial databases, data pipelines, and data standardization processes
- Perform spatial analysis, modelling, and suitability assessments to support business and research needs
- Integrate GIS workflows with internal tools and external software ecosystems to enable seamless data exchange
- Support company-wide mapping and analytical initiatives, collaborating with engineering, data, and domain teams
- Contribute to the development and improvement of geospatial methodologies, tools, and best practices
Candidate Requirements
- 2-6yrs experience in a similar role with relevant Bachelor's and/or Master's degree
- Strong proficiency in Python/C++ /VBA for GIS automation
- Solid understanding of GIS data types and formats, including:
- Vector, raster, and spatial databases
- Industry file formats such as DWG, WRG, GeoJSON/JSON, Shapefiles, GeoTIFF, KM
- Experience handling and transforming geospatial data across formats
- Ability to design and implement batch-processing workflows for GIS operations
- Familiarity with spatial analysis and geospatial modelling concepts
- Experience with databases (e.g., PostGIS or similar spatial databases)
- Knowledge of geospatial libraries (e.g., GDAL, rasterio, geopandas)
- Highly organised & detail orientated.
- Confident communicator.
- Ability to work remotely and in person with the team.
