About the Role

Sweco is seeking an experienced Geotechnical Engineer to join our Bangalore office as a full-time employee. In this role, you will work primarily on international projects, with a strong focus on European assignments (particularly in the Nordic region), and collaborate closely with colleagues in Sweden and other countries.

You will be part of a high-performing, multicultural team and will play a key role in delivering technically robust and cost-effective geotechnical solutions for our clients.

Qualification-M.Tech. in Geotechnical Engineering

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and interpret ground investigation reports, soil interpretation drawings, and related documentation.
  • Evaluate soft soil parameters in accordance with Eurocodes and associated annexes, preferably with experience from Nordic countries (especially Sweden) and soft clay assessments.
  • Perform geotechnical analyses, including:
  • Stress and settlement analysis
  • Slope stability calculations
  • Foundation design
  • Underground opening design
  • Development of 3D models
  • Design geotechnical support structures such as sheet piles, retaining walls, and pile foundations.
  • Use AutoCAD/Civil 3D and relevant parametric or direct modelling tools for geotechnical design and documentation.
  • Prepare clear, well-structured technical reports, calculation sheets, and documents summarising analyses, findings, and recommendations for clients.
  • Collaborate closely with designers, Project Managers, and Team Leaders in India, Sweden, and other Sweco locations.
  • Provide technical input, oversight, and quality control during design and documentation phases.
  • Apply critical thinking to develop robust, cost-effective geotechnical solutions.
  • Work independently and as part of a team, ensuring that technical deliverables are accurate, on time, and aligned with budget and quality requirements.
  • Support and mentor colleagues, contributing to technical knowledge-sharing and professional development within the team.

Qualification and Experience

  • Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of professional experience in geotechnical engineering.
  • Strong proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
  • Solid understanding of Eurocodes and associated standards and references.
  • Proven experience with geotechnical software such as GeoStudio (Slope/W), PLAXIS 2D, and Civil 3D.
  • Demonstrated experience in geotechnical calculations, analyses, and preparation of professional technical reports.
  • Fluent English communication and effective interaction skill is a must.
  • Conversant with codes and standards Euro codes and associated references.
  • Experience with Geostudio (SlopeW), Plaxis 2D, Civil 3D etc.
  • Experienced with geotechnical calculations, analysis and preparation of reports.
