The PGT Geography teacher is responsible for teaching Geography to senior secondary classes (IXXII), developing students understanding of physical and human geography, environmental issues, and spatial analysis. The role involves curriculum planning, classroom teaching, assessment, and mentoring students to achieve academic excellence.
Key Responsibilities
1. Teaching & Classroom Management
- Teach Geography to Classes XI and XII as per the prescribed curriculum.
- Develop lesson plans aligned with board guidelines.
- Explain geographical concepts such as physical geography, human geography, environmental geography, and map work.
2. Curriculum Planning
- Prepare annual and weekly teaching plans.
- Design assignments, projects, and fieldwork activities.
- Integrate current geographical and environmental issues into lessons.
3. Student Assessment
- Conduct tests, examinations, and practical assessments.
- Evaluate maps, projects, and field study reports.
- Provide feedback and remedial support to students.
4. Co-Curricular Activities
- Organize geography clubs, field trips, and environmental awareness programs.
- Guide students for competitions, Olympiads, and research projects.
5. Administrative Responsibilities
- Maintain attendance, academic records, and progress reports.
- Participate in staff meetings, parent-teacher meetings, and school events.
Required Qualifications
- Postgraduate Degree (M.A./M.Sc.) in Geography from a recognized university.
- B.Ed. (Bachelor of Education)
Required Skills
- Strong subject knowledge and excellent communication and classroom management skills.
- Ability to use maps and digital teaching tools.
- Strong analytical and presentation skills.
- Ability to engage and motivate students.
Experience
- 35 years of teaching experience in senior secondary classes.
- Preferably from the ICSE Board
- The local candidate from Kanpur is preferable
