Position Overview

MPSEDC is seeking a skilled and motivated GIS Developer to design, develop, and maintain scalable geospatial applications using modern web and open-source GIS technologies. The selected candidate will contribute to building interactive mapping platforms, developing geospatial APIs, and integrating spatial data services across enterprise-level systems.

The role requires strong technical expertise in web GIS development, spatial databases, geospatial services, and application performance optimization.

Key Responsibilities

Design and develop web-based GIS applications, dashboards, and mapping portals.

Develop and integrate RESTful APIs for spatial data services and geospatial applications.

Build interactive mapping interfaces using modern JavaScript mapping libraries such as

OpenLayers and

Leaflet.

Publish and manage geospatial services such as WMS, WFS, and WMTS using

GeoServer or similar platforms.

Design and manage spatial databases using PostgreSQL with PostGIS extension.

Perform spatial analysis, coordinate transformations, and geospatial data processing.

Optimize GIS application performance for large-scale geospatial datasets.

Integrate frontend and backend components to deliver scalable enterprise GIS solutions.

Collaborate with UI/UX designers, GIS analysts, and backend developers to deliver integrated solutions.

Conduct debugging, testing, and maintenance of GIS applications.

Prepare technical documentation, deployment guides, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Utilize AI-assisted development tools to improve productivity and development efficiency.

Support real-time geospatial data processing, integration of AI/ML models, and development of 3D/WebGL-based GIS applications.

Contribute to development of mobile GIS applications where required.

Educational Qualifications

Bachelor's or Master's degree in one of the following disciplines:

Geographic Information Systems

Geoinformatics

Computer Science

Geomatics Engineering

Remote Sensing

Relevant certifications or training in open-source GIS technologies will be considered an added advantage.

Experience

Minimum 35 years of relevant experience in GIS application development using open-source technologies.

Experience in Web GIS development, geospatial API development, and spatial database management.

Experience handling large spatial datasets and enterprise GIS systems is preferred.

Technical Skills

GIS & Geospatial Platforms

Experience with GeoServer for publishing spatial services.

Strong knowledge of QGIS or similar GIS platforms.

Understanding of OGC standards such as WMS, WFS, and WMTS.

Programming & Development

Proficiency in:

JavaScript

Python

REST API development

JSON / GeoJSON

Web GIS Development

Experience with mapping frameworks such as:

OpenLayers

Leaflet

Spatial Database

Experience working with PostgreSQL with PostGIS extension.

Ability to perform efficient spatial queries and database optimization.

Knowledge of AI/ML integration with geospatial data analysis.

Strong debugging, performance tuning, and system optimization skills.
