Position Overview
We are looking for empathetic and experienced Genetic Counsellors (GCs) to join our multidisciplinary team. The ideal candidate will have strong scientific knowledge, excellent counselling skills, and familiarity with molecular assays and clinical genomics reporting. This role supports both patients and clinicians across domains including reproductive genetics, rare disorders, oncology, and personal genomics.
Qualifications
- MSc and/or PhD in Biomedical Genetics, Applied Biology, Biotechnology, Microbiology, or related life sciences
- OR MBBS with relevant training/experience
- Board-certified Genetic Counsellor Level 2 preferred, Level 1 acceptable
Experience
- 12 years of experience in genetic counselling
- Experience in pre- and post-test counselling for: Reproductive disorders, Rare genetic conditions, Oncology, Personal genomics
- Working knowledge of molecular assays
- Familiarity with: Psychosocial aspects of counselling, Genomic databases, international guidelines, and clinical reporting protocols
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive genetic counselling sessions with patients and families across various specialties
- Review and explain genetic test reports to patients and clinicians
- Construct and analyze pedigrees, summarizing key findings in counselling reports
- Support variant interpretation, documentation, and classification
- Contribute to the development of SOPs and best practices for genetic counselling
- Participate in training and collaborative meetings with internal teams including clinicians, lab personnel, and research staff
