  • Job Title: General Manager Solar
  • Department: Solar Business
  • Reporting To: CEO / Business Head
  • Location: As per business requirement
  • Role Summary
  • The General Manager Solar will be responsible for leading and managing the overall solar business operations, including sales, project execution, operations, and profitability. The role involves strategic planning, team leadership, market expansion, and ensuring timely delivery of solar projects in line with company objectives.
  • Key Responsibilities
  • Business & Strategy
  • Develop and implement business strategies to drive growth in the solar vertical
  • Identify new market opportunities, partnerships, and revenue streams
  • Prepare and manage annual business plans, budgets, and forecasts
  • Ensure achievement of revenue, volume, and profitability targets
  • Sales & Marketing
  • Lead solar sales across rooftop, utility-scale, and institutional segments
  • Develop channel partners, EPC tie-ups, and key customer relationships
  • Monitor sales pipeline, conversions, and market competitiveness
  • Guide marketing initiatives, promotions, and branding activities
  • Project Execution & Operations
  • Oversee end-to-end execution of solar projects from order to commissioning
  • Ensure compliance with technical standards, quality norms, and safety policies
  • Coordinate with procurement, logistics, and engineering teams
  • Monitor project timelines, costs, and risk mitigation
  • Team Leadership
  • Build, mentor, and lead cross-functional teams (sales, projects, operations)
  • Set clear goals, KPIs, and performance review mechanisms
  • Drive a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
  • Stakeholder & Compliance Management
  • Liaise with government bodies, DISCOMs, and regulatory authorities
  • Ensure adherence to statutory, contractual, and regulatory requirements
  • Manage relationships with vendors, contractors, and consultants
  • Skills & Competencies
  • Strong leadership and decision-making abilities
  • In-depth knowledge of solar industry, EPC models, and regulations
  • Strategic thinking with strong execution capability
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
  • Financial acumen and project management expertise
  • Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical / Mechanical preferred)
  • MBA or equivalent management qualification preferred
  • 1015 years of experience in solar or renewable energy sector
  • Proven experience in business leadership and large-scale project management
