Role Overview
The General Manager – Sales & Marketing will be responsible for driving revenue growth, profitability, and market expansion for the conveyor belt business. This role demands strong commercial acumen, strategic leadership, and end-to-end ownership of the sales lifecycle, from opportunity generation to order realization and collections.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and deliver overall sales revenue, profitability, and market share, aligned with business growth objectives.
- Define and execute sales & marketing strategy, including pricing, positioning, key account management, and expansion into new markets and segments.
- Drive the entire business lifecycle — lead generation, techno-commercial evaluation, negotiations, order closure, and revenue realization.
- Lead high-value client engagements, negotiations, and contract closures, particularly for large-scale projects, tenders, and strategic accounts.
- Take final ownership of commercial decisions, including pricing, margins, and contractual risk evaluation (GCC/SCC), ensuring profitable order booking.
- Build and nurture strategic customer relationships, acting as the escalation point to ensure long-term business retention and growth.
- Spearhead bid management and tender strategy, ensuring high conversion rates through competitive and compliant proposals.
- Drive sales pipeline visibility and conversion, leveraging direct channels, partners, and procurement platforms (Ariba, Tata E-Proc, etc.).
- Lead cross-functional collaboration with sales, costing, engineering, production, and supply chain teams to ensure timely and accurate execution.
- Establish robust commercial governance frameworks, including pricing discipline, deviation control, and contract risk mitigation.
- Ensure an efficient order-to-cash cycle, with strong oversight on order booking, production alignment, dispatch, and collections.
- Ensure end-to-end ownership of the commercial lifecycle, including management of Advance Bank Guarantees (ABG) through to final payment collection, ensuring timely realization of receivables and strict adherence to contractual terms.
- Own working capital management, ensuring adherence to payment terms and minimizing receivables risk.
- Align closely with operations and supply chain to ensure on-time delivery and mitigate risks such as liquidated damages (LD).
- Drive customer experience excellence, ensuring responsiveness, reliability, and strong brand positioning in the market.
- Identify and develop new business opportunities, including channel expansion, partnerships, and export markets.
