About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and strategic HR leader to join our team as General Manager – HR (Plant HR Head) based at our Chennai manufacturing facility. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in managing all facets of plant HR, including Performance Appraisal, Contract Labour Management, Administration and Security, Learning & Development, HR Operations, and Talent Acquisition. This role is pivotal in fostering a performance-driven, compliant, and people-centric culture at the plant.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic HR Leadership
- Partner with plant leadership to align HR strategies with business goals.
- Drive employee engagement, organizational effectiveness, and cultural initiatives.
2. Performance Management
- Oversee the implementation and execution of performance appraisal processes.
- Facilitate goal setting, mid-year and annual reviews, and performance improvement plans.
3. Contract Labour Management
- Ensure compliance with labour laws and manage contract workforce effectively.
- Build strong relationships with contract agencies to ensure availability of skilled manpower.
- Monitor workforce productivity, attendance, and discipline.
4. Plant Administration and Security
- Supervise plant admin functions including housekeeping, canteen, transport, and infrastructure maintenance.
- Coordinate with security agencies to ensure 24x7 plant security and compliance with safety protocols.
5. Learning & Development (L&D)
- Identify training needs and develop programs to upskill employees across levels.
- Drive technical, behavioural, and compliance-related training initiatives.
- Track training effectiveness and build a continuous learning culture.
6. HR Operations
- Oversee end-to-end HR processes including payroll coordination, statutory compliance, HRIS, and employee lifecycle management.
- Ensure timely resolution of employee grievances and disciplinary issues.
- Maintain accurate documentation and MIS for internal and audit purposes.
7. Talent Acquisition
- Drive recruitment for blue-collar and white-collar roles at the plant.
- Liaise with recruitment partners, colleges, and internal stakeholders for manpower planning and hiring.
Qualifications & Experience
- Education: MBA/PGDM in Human Resources or equivalent from a reputed institute.
- Experience: Minimum 15+ years of HR experience, with at least 7–10 years in a manufacturing plant environment.
- Strong knowledge of labour laws, IR practices, and statutory compliance.
- Proven track record in leading HR teams and managing complex plant environments.
