Designation : Vice President of Product Engineering

Reporting To : Chief Product & Technology Officer (CPTO)
Role Purpose
GeBBS Healthcare is strengthening its technology backbone to support global revenue cycle management (RCM) operations. This includes workflow platforms, automation capabilities, and business-critical tools used daily by over 10,000 associates to deliver outcomes for U.S. healthcare clients.
The Vice President of Product Engineering will lead the engineering function responsible for building, scaling, and operating GeBBS internal platforms and products. This is a hands-on technology leadership role, requiring a strong blend of architecture, engineering execution, and delivery ownership.
The mandate is to build stable, scalable, secure, and high-performing systems that drive measurable improvements in productivity, quality, and margins across GeBBS RCM business.
Key Responsibilities
- Own Engineering for Products & Platforms :
- Define and execute the engineering strategy and roadmap in close partnership with Product, Operations, and Business leaders.
- Lead the design, development, deployment, and continuous enhancement of internal platforms and products.
- Ensure systems are secure, compliant, scalable, resilient, and highly observable.
- Build a High-Performing Engineering Organization :
- Lead and scale the Mumbai-based engineering organization, including Engineering Managers, Tech Leads, Backend/Frontend Engineers, QA, DevOps, and SRE teams.
- Establish clear team structures, ownership models, and career progression paths.
- Drive engineering excellence through standards around code quality, architecture reviews, CI/CD, testing, documentation, and release governance.
- Mentor and develop next-generation engineering leaders.
- Deliver Business Outcomes :
- Align engineering priorities and backlogs with business goals and operational outcomes.
- Ensure every release is tied to measurable impact in efficiency, quality, productivity, or business performance.
- Enforce end-to-end delivery ownership across the lifecycle :
- Problem Definition Design Build Rollout Measure Optimize
- Ensure strong adoption, training, and feedback loops for every product or platform rollout.
- Architecture, Integration & Technical Direction :
- Own the technical architecture for internal platforms and workflow systems.
- Define the API and integration strategy for systems including EMRs, payer platforms, clearinghouses, telephony systems, and document management platforms.
- Ensure architectures support multi-client deployments, high availability, extensibility, and controlled customization.
- Partner with Data and Analytics teams to ensure strong instrumentation, event capture, and observability.
- Industrialize Automation & AI Enablement :
- Collaborate with AI/Data Science and Automation teams to safely embed models and automation into production workflows.
- Ensure automation components are version-controlled, observable, reliable, and reversible.
- Focus on productionizing and platformizing automation, rather than owning AI research.
- Operational Excellence, Reliability & Compliance :
- Build and institutionalize DevOps / SRE practices across uptime, reliability, incident response, and recovery.
- Strengthen on-call, incident management, and post-mortem processes.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA, PHI handling requirements, audit trails, and security best practices.
- Partner with InfoSec teams to support client audits, risk assessments, and security reviews.
- Budgeting, Planning & Stakeholder Management :
- Own the engineering budget including headcount, tools, platforms, and infrastructure planning.
- Develop multi-quarter engineering plans aligned to product and business priorities.
- Communicate progress, risks, dependencies, and trade-offs effectively to the CPTO and Executive Leadership Team (ELT).
- Build strong cross-functional alignment with Operations, Product, Automation, Data, and U.S. business stakeholders.
Experience & Qualifications
Must-Have :
- 18+ years of experience in software engineering, with 5-7+ years leading large engineering teams (50+ engineers).
- Proven experience in a VP / Director / Head of Engineering capacity, with strong ownership across architecture to delivery.
- Strong background in building and scaling enterprise workflow systems, internal platforms, or mission-critical business applications.
- Deep expertise in APIs, microservices, cloud platforms, CI/CD, monitoring, observability, and modern engineering practices.
- Experience working closely with AI/ML, automation, or intelligent workflow teams to productionize solutions.
- Demonstrated success in driving engineering outcomes in complex, high-scale, operationally intensive environments.
Preferred
- Experience in Healthcare Technology, RCM, BPM, SaaS, Enterprise Platforms, or Digital Operations environments.
- Exposure to high-compliance environments such as healthcare, BFSI, or other regulated industries.
- Prior experience supporting globally distributed teams across India and the U.S.
