Role Summary
As a GCP Data Analytics Architect, you'll define cloud strategy, create reusable design patterns, and lead cross-lab alignment for data analytics initiatives. You'll architect secure, compliant GCP solutions spanning data ingestion, transformation, and analytics while fostering a CI/CD culture across engineering teams.
Role & Responsibilities
- Take lead in defining and implementing the GCP based Cloud Strategy and Architecture for cloud solution in data analytics domain covering data lake and data products.
- Ensure that all cloud solutions follow security and compliance controls.
- Participate in the establishment of an automated DevOps release management pipeline which delivers tooling for next generation application development efforts (the Dev) and on-going production operations (the Ops). Cultivate a Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery mindset.
- Plan, organize, and control multiple responsibilities to achieve project objectives; technically guide projects through to completion. Ensure deliverables are completed within target timeframes and are consistently of high-quality.
- Work with teams to bring continuous improvement to cloud based implementations.
- Guide the development of prototypes for proving out new technology solutions for data on cloud.
- Shape and maintain the delivery roadmap for the lab and its work streams and agree key architecture decisions within the lab and relevant governance forums.
- Plan ahead of the business curve through flexible capability models, operational and technological frameworks to facilitate agile and incremental product delivery.
- Develop models and frameworks for the current, future and transition states for the lab in the context of the value stream and in alignment to other related roadmaps and strategies.
- Understand the assets in scope of the lab, including people, processes and technology, and how they fit together to provide a clear articulation of the overall capability uplift needed to realise the product and operational vision.
- Communicate the lab roadmap, key design decisions and patterns effectively within the lab and with other stakeholders/communities to foster collaboration and knowledge reuse.
- Ensure cross-lab alignment across the enterprise (e.g., design alignment with enterprise platforms, holistic operating model and propositions across related labs).
- Lead, influence and agree the strategy for the lab and key design decisions across technology, operating model, customer experience and other design viewpoints.
- Help resource the lab with required skills (e.g., business and solution/technical architecture) and provide design leadership across this community of practice.
- Collaborate with product owners, other architects and engineers to understand solution choices and help define an incremental delivery plan.
- Act as a change agent for engineering culture, test and learn approach, systems thinking and user experience led design.
- Engage stakeholders across business, operational and technology domains to collaborate and communicate design, change introduction and business cases.
- Strong Data Modelling skills - Manages existing patterns, creates new patterns, enhances existing patterns, coordinates with multiple teams for smooth delivery.
- Participate in Design Agreement forums to create strategic design and conduct Pattern Adoption sessions with use case teams.
- Monitor Pattern Adoption OKRs during incubation and release phases.
- Work with Data architects on GCP technology choices and define cloud solution architecture/patterns.
- Define architecture and design patterns for GCP integration with DG/DQ tools, data ingestion from SORs, and data transformation into Silver and Gold layers.
- Maintain in-depth knowledge of specific business and technical specialisms, providing expert advice.
