Working Hours: 10:00 AM – 7:00 PM
Salary: INR 1,50,000 – 2,00,000 Per Month.
1. Position Overview
The General Manager – Garment Division will oversee the complete operations of the garment manufacturing unit. This role includes managing production, merchandising, quality control, planning, costing, and workforce management. The GM will ensure timely delivery, cost control, quality excellence, and smooth coordination between all departments while continuously improving efficiency and productivity.
2. Key Responsibilities
A. Production Management
- Oversee day-to-day garment production operations.
- Ensure production targets are achieved within timelines.
- Plan manpower, machine allocation, and production schedules.
- Maintain high efficiency across stitching, finishing, and packing units.
- Monitor daily output and resolve production bottlenecks.
B. Quality Control & Compliance
- Ensure all quality standards are maintained for domestic and export orders.
- Coordinate with QC team for inline and final inspections.
- Implement continuous improvements for reducing defects, rework, and wastage.
- Ensure compliance with safety and workplace regulations.
C. Merchandising & Sampling
- Review all new enquiries, tech packs, samples, and costing.
- Approve sample development, trims, accessories, and fabrics.
- Coordinate with the merchandising team to maintain timelines and approvals.
- Ensure smooth communication with buyers/customers.
D. Planning & Coordination
- Lead planning meetings for production, orders, and delivery schedules.
- Coordinate with fabric, trims, procurement, and warehouse departments.
- Track order status from sampling to dispatch.
- Ensure proper documentation, production files, and order follow-up.
E. Costing & Budgeting
- Review and finalize garment costing and margin calculations.
- Monitor overheads, labor cost, materials usage, and wastage.
- Identify opportunities to reduce cost without compromising quality.
F. Team Leadership
- Supervise production managers, merchandisers, quality team, and supervisors.
- Train staff for better performance and productivity improvements.
- Evaluate team performance, set KPIs, and ensure accountability.
- Maintain discipline and a healthy working environment.
G. Customer & Client Relations
- Handle key customers and maintain long-term relationships.
- Attend client meetings, approvals, and audits.
- Resolve client concerns related to quality, delivery, or pricing.
H. Reporting & Documentation
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly production and performance reports.
- Track order status, shipment deadlines, and dispatch.
- Report key challenges and updates directly to the Director.
- Report monthly department profit and loss.
3. Required Skills & Qualifications
- Graduate / Diploma in Textile, Apparel Production, or related field.
- 12–20 years of experience in garment manufacturing (woven/knitted).
- Strong understanding of garment construction, production flow, SMV, layouts, and industrial engineering.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
- Proficiency in MS Office, ERP/HRMS/production software.
- Knowledge of compliance, audits, and buyer requirements.
