The Consultant Engineer Functional Safety will be responsible for supporting with Alarm

Rationalization (ARM), Safety Integrity Level (SIL) & Cyber Security assessment

workshops/studies. This position requires a solid foundation in instrumentation and electronic

engineering, with a focus on integrating safety and cybersecurity practices to maintain and

enhance the reliability and security of industrial operations.

This role will provide you with an opportunity to support the Functional Safety Team undertaking

a wide range of activities including managing projects, development of technical

reports (e.g. Alarm Rationalization report, SIL Assessment report, SIL Validation report, Cyber

Security Assessment report) and monitoring for various projects.

Key responsibilities and duties are listed, but not limited to, the below:

  1. Manage multiple projects whilst undertaking technical delivery, engagement with clients
  2. Prepare comprehensive reports (Alarm Rationalization report, SIL Assessment report, SIL

Validation report, Cyber Security Assessment) and provide recommendations for system

improvements and security enhancements.

3. Provide expert technical support for instrumentation, control, and cybersecurity systems.

4. Work closely with cross-functional teams, including process engineers, safety managers, IT

specialists, and cybersecurity experts.

5. Assist in troubleshooting and resolving issues related to alarms, SIL, and cybersecurity.

6. Ensure that the quality of deliverables is to the consistently high standards demanded by

the Client and authority.

7. Manage bids and proposals and develop technical and financial proposals.

8. Stay informed about the latest industry standards and regulations related to alarm

management, functional safety, and cybersecurity through training and self-study.

9. Ensure all work adheres to relevant health, safety, environmental, and cybersecurity

regulations under guidance.

Candidate Specification

Bachelor's Degree level qualification is preferable in Instrumentation/Electronic engineering

or similar.

Minimum of 5 years of experience in instrumentation and control systems.

Familiarity with IEC 61508/61511 standards for functional safety and IEC 62443 for

cybersecurity is not mandatory but will be considered an added advantage.

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Flexibility to travel for meetings and site visits where necessary.

Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills with good report writing,

presentation, analytical, and computer skills.
