We are now looking for a high-caliber Founding Engineer with strong experience in product development and recommendation systems to help evolve our MVP into a robust, scalable platform.
Role description
As our Software Engineer, you will take end-to-end ownership of core platform development from connecting the React front end to our Supabase backend to architecting and scaling our AI-powered recommendation engine.
This is a high-impact, builder role suited for someone who is deeply hands-on, highly autonomous, and excited to shape an AI-native consumer product from the ground up and can drive work with minimal supervision.
You will work closely with the founder to transform the MVP into a polished, customer-ready experience.
Responsibilities
- Strengthen and scale the existing React/Next.js Supabase architecture to improve platform stability, reliability, and performance
- Audit the current MVP codebase and implement structural and architectural improvements where needed
- Identify and implement opportunities to improve the user experience, site performance, and overall customer journey
- Help define, design, and evolve the platform's recommendation engine, including scoring logic, ranking methodology, and personalization frameworks
- Enhance and productionize AI integrations across the platform, including:
Image analysis workflows
Ingredient intelligence and mapping
Personalized recommendation scoring
- Build and ship new product features aligned with the product roadmap
- Optimize database architecture, Supabase queries, and edge functions for performance and scalability
- Continuously improve the codebase to ensure maintainability, efficiency, and long-term scalability
- Improve monitoring, logging, error handling, and system robustness to support a reliable production platform
- Collaborate with SEO and growth teams to support visibility, performance, and technical improvements
- Refine end-to-end customer journeys to ensure a seamless, premium product experience
- Partner closely with the founder on technical strategy, prioritization, and iterative product releases
Must-Have
- 47+ years of hands-on software engineering experience building and maintaining production systems
- Strong expertise in React / Next.js and modern full-stack architecture
- Experience building or integrating AI-powered features or intelligent workflows into real-world products
- Demonstrated experience designing or implementing recommendation systems, ranking algorithms, or personalization logic
- Strong working knowledge of Supabase (Auth, SQL, APIs, Functions) or similar backend-as-a-service platforms
- Ability to architect and ship full-stack features end-to-end, with strong product thinking
- Experience improving performance, reliability, and scalability of live production platforms
- Comfortable working in early-stage startup environments with high ownership and autonomy
- Strong debugging, testing, and deployment practices
- Genuine interest in consumer technology, beauty, skincare, or health-tech
- Self started, thinks ahead of time and keen to roll up their selves and get the job done
