Innovation Hub Overview

Jefferies is creating a Technology Innovation Hub in Pune, a greenfield opportunity to build the systems that power global markets. As our first India technology center, this hub brings together hands on builders who engineer the platforms behind Jefferies growth across capital markets, investment banking, and institutional securities. We're scaling toward an elite team of 500 engineers while maintaining the agility, ownership, and meritocratic spirit that defines Jefferies. From cloud and data to AI, risk, and core business technologies, teams in Pune will lead high impact work with a global mandate.

IT Corporate Technology

Corporate Technology powers Jefferies enterprise operations, enabling front-, middle-, and back-office teams to run efficiently, securely, and in compliance at scale. The group delivers and supports integrated platforms across HR, Finance, Compliance & Legal, Treasury, Client Onboarding, Operations, Centralized Data Services, Regulatory Reporting, Loan Operations, and FX Trading, while also leading firmwide digitalization initiatives focused on automation and process efficiency.

The team uses modern technology stackincluding AWS and Azure, Snowflake, Qlik Sense, and best-in-class vendor solutionsto build next-generation capabilities in AI/ML, enterprise analytics, and process automation (RPA and low-code/no-code). Roles in Corporate Technology offer hands-on work with cloud, data, and automation platforms, close collaboration with engineers, product managers, and business stakeholders, and end-to-end exposure to how a global financial services firm operates.

Full Stack Developer Software Engineer

Location: Pune (Hybrid)

About the Role

We are looking for a passionate and selfdriven Software Engineer (Full Stack Developer) to join our cloudnative engineering team. You will work on modern distributed systems built using Java, Angular/React, Kafka, PostgreSQL, and API Gatewaybased microservices.

This role provides handson exposure to scalable application design, eventdriven architecture, and cloudnative development practices. You will collaborate with senior engineers to deliver high-quality features in an agile environment.

Key Responsibilities

1. Full Stack Development

Develop responsive and reusable UI components using Angular or React.

Build secure and scalable backend microservices using Java (preferably Java 17+).

Integrate front-end and back-end through REST APIs and API Gateway.

2. Cloud-Native & Microservices

Contribute to the design and development of microservices deployed on cloud platforms.

Work with API Gateways to expose and manage service endpoints.

Learn containerized development using Docker and CI/CD pipelines.

3. Event-Driven Architecture

Develop and integrate services with Kafka for asynchronous messaging.

Understand Kafka producers, consumers, topics, and message delivery patterns.

4. Database Development

Build and optimize database schema and queries using PostgreSQL.

Understand indexing, transactions, and data modeling best practices.

5. Quality Engineering

Write unit, integration, and API tests using industry-standard tools.

Participate in code reviews and ensure adherence to coding best practices.

6. Agile Collaboration

Participate in sprint planning, stand-ups, grooming, and retros.

Work crossfunctionally with product managers, QA, architects, and senior developers.

Required Skills

  • Strong foundation in Core Java, OOP concepts, and backend services.
  • Exposure to Angular or React for modern UI development.
  • Basic understanding of REST API design and microservices.
  • Familiarity with Kafka (basic producers/consumers)
  • Good understanding of SQL and relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL.
  • Knowledge of Git, build tools (Maven/Gradle), and debugging techniques.
  • Strong analytical and problemsolving skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.

Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Handson projects involving cloud-native development (AWS/Azure/GCP).
  • Understanding of containers (Docker) and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Knowledge of API Gateway patterns (authentication, throttling, routing).
  • Experience with testing frameworks (JUnit, Mockito, Jest, Cypress, etc.).
  • Familiarity with eventdriven design patterns.
