Role Purpose (Chennai-Based):

To design, plan, and optimize scaffolding and formwork systems that ensure structural integrity, compliance with statutory codes, and operational efficiency for construction projects.

The role demands technical expertise, engineering creativity, and cost-conscious design practices to deliver safe, practical, and sustainable access solutions.

The selected candidate will be based in Chennai, supporting projects in Malaysia, with payroll and statutory compliance managed by Linsun India.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Design & Drafting

Develop 2D layouts, 3D models, and detailed drawings using AutoCAD, Revit, or specialized scaffold/formwork software.

Ensure designs meet project specifications, load requirements, and safety standards.

Prepare design documentation for tender submissions, client approvals, and regulatory inspections.

2. Compliance & Safety

Align designs with local and international codes (DOSH, OSHA, BS, EN standards).

Perform structural calculations to verify load-bearing capacity, stability, and factor of safety.

Conduct risk assessments and integrate safe work practices into design intent.

3. Project Support

Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and site supervisors to deliver tailored solutions.

Provide technical support during installation, modification, and dismantling.

Train site teams on design interpretation, safe practices, and compliance requirements.

4. Innovation & Optimization

Recommend cost-effective alternatives and innovative methodologies for scaffolding and formwork.

Integrate modular, reusable, and sustainable design practices to reduce project costs and environmental impact.

Skills & Competencies

Strong knowledge of structural engineering principles and construction methodologies.

Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and scaffold/formwork design software.

Ability to perform load calculations, stability checks, and risk assessments.

Excellent communication skills for client coordination and team collaboration.

Attention to detail, problem-solving mindset, and proactive risk management.

Qualifications

Degree/Diploma in Civil or Structural Engineering (or related field).

Professional registration (e.g., BEM, Chartered Engineer) preferred.

Minimum 5 years of experience in scaffolding/formwork design.
