Position: Flight Sciences Lead

Position Summary
The Flight Sciences Lead owns the aerodynamic, loads, dynamics, handling qualities, and acoustic analysis for the Jaunt Cargo hybrid VTOL aircraft across hover, transition, and cruise. This role provides the analytical and simulation foundation supporting flight controls, structures, propulsion integration, flight test, and certification.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead flight sciences activities across design, testing, and certification
- Own aerodynamic modeling for hover, transition, cruise, and rotor–wing–propulsor interactions
- Lead rotor dynamics and aeromechanics analyses, including performance, stability, vibration, and aeroelasticity
- Define aircraft load cases in coordination with structures and propulsion teams
- Develop handling qualities criteria and metrics for piloted and remote operations
- Support control law development with flight dynamics models, stability analysis, and gain scheduling data
- Lead external and internal acoustic analysis, including community noise considerations
- Develop and maintain high‑fidelity simulation environments (aero, dynamics, pilot/operator‑in‑the‑loop)
- Support flight test planning, envelope expansion, data reduction, and model correlation
- Contribute to certification artifacts for handling qualities, loads, stability & control, and acoustics
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Aerospace Engineering or related discipline
- 15+ years total engineering experience, including 5+ years in flight sciences, aerodynamics, or vehicle dynamics
- Experience with rotorcraft or VTOL aerodynamics, rotor dynamics, handling qualities, or flight dynamics
- Experience supporting flight test and correlating analytical models to flight data
- Familiarity with certification‑related flight sciences analyses preferred
