We are recruiting on behalf of one of our clients operating in the manufacturing sector, specializing in corrugated packaging solutions a Fitter Machinist / Process Technician.
Job Objective
The Fitter Machinist / Process Technician will work closely with the Senior Technician/Millwright and Maintenance Manager to ensure maximum operational efficiency and equipment availability. The role requires active involvement on production lines, especially during shifts, and supporting machine operations when necessary.
Key Responsibilities :
1. Troubleshooting
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical defects efficiently.
- Implement corrective actions using sound engineering practices.
2. Maintenance & Projects
- Participate in all mechanical maintenance activities across plant, process, and utility equipment.
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance in line with manufacturer recommendations.
- Lead or support projects involving fabrication, machining, mechanical fitting, and equipment upgrades or rehabilitation.
3. Technical Improvements
- Recommend process improvements, equipment upgrades, and operational changes to enhance efficiency.
4. Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of preventive and corrective maintenance activities (work orders, schedules, etc.).
- Submit timely and detailed reports to the Maintenance Manager.
- Document daily activities and conduct end-of-shift inspections, noting maintenance needs and equipment condition.
- Complete any additional reports as required.
5. Leadership
- Demonstrate leadership and supervisory capabilities within the Maintenance Department.
- Optimize the use of available resources to meet departmental and company objectives.
- Identify and report poor operational practices and advise machine operators on corrective actions.
6. Additional Duties
- Develop a strong understanding of the production process and recommend improvements.
- Operate machine control systems when required and support production teams.
- Temporarily fill production roles during staff shortages while ensuring compliance with SOPs, quality standards, GMP, and safety practices.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Maintenance Manager.
7. Safety & Housekeeping
- Adhere to and enforce all company safety policies and regulations.
- Maintain high housekeeping standards.
- Identify and report hazards or unsafe conditions promptly.
- Promote a strong safety culture across operations.
Health & Safety Responsibilities :
The successful candidate must:
- Properly use and maintain personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Operate equipment safely without endangering self or others.
- Report hazards, defective equipment, or unsafe conditions.
- Follow all Occupational Safety and Health regulations.
- Maintain professional and safe workplace behavior at all times.
Job Requirements:
- Technical certification in maintenance and repair of plant/process equipment (Bac+2 equivalent) .
- Minimum 5 years experience with plant equipment (pumps, bearings, conveyors, gear systems, etc.).
- 3–5 years experience with utility equipment (compressors, centrifugal and multistage pumps).
- Experience in a manufacturing environment (corrugated packaging industry is a plus).
- Knowledge of fabrication and basic machine design (bases, parts, jigs).
- Strong troubleshooting and mechanical skills.
- High standards of housekeeping and organization.
- Willingness to work shifts and irregular hours as required.
