Your Role And Responsibilities
As a Hardware Developer for Cognitive Systems, you will design, develop, test, and deliver firmware & hardware offerings used in Cognitive Systems, utilizing the latest technologies to create IBM hardware and technology products. You will work on delivering quality systems to meet market needs, including differentiation in the IBM Cloud.
Your Primary Responsibilities Will Include
- Develop Firmware/Hardware Offerings: Design, develop, and test hardware components using design documentation, such as Functional Specifications and high-level design documents, to ensure they are unit tested and ready for integration into the system product.
- Provide Fixes and Support: Deliver fixes to defects identified by the verification team during the development life cycle and support customer environments in providing end-to-end solutions and resolution of issues.
- Test and Validate: Test the functional and RAS (reliability, availability, and serviceability) aspects of the implementation to ensure quality systems.
- Collaborate on Solutions: Work on delivering quality systems to meet market needs, including differentiation in the IBM Cloud, and support the development of end-to-end solutions.

Master's Degree
Required Technical And Professional Expertise
- Proficient in Modern C++, STL, Design patterns, Data structures
- Hands on experience with Linux system level programming and strong OS fundamentals
- Experience with Open source tools & Scripting languages: Git, Gerrit, Jenkins, Perl/Python, Bitbake
- Excellent debug and problem determination skills
- Familiarity with End-to-End Solutions: Experience working on developing end-to-end solutions, collaborating with teams to meet market needs and customer requirements.
Preferred Technical And Professional Experience
Hands on knowledge in any or more of the following areas are desirable
- OpenBMC development experience
- Server Management protocols (Redfish, PLDM, SPDM)
- Linux Bootloaders, Memory management, Device Drivers
- Working with Linux Device trees & writing Hardware Abstraction Layer wrappers for HW protocols (I2C/SPI/GPIO/UART etc)
Exposure/Experience on C++17/C++20/C++23 is greatly desired
Experience with Hardware/Board bring up will be an added plus
