Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot firewalls (e.g., Palo Alto, Fortinet, Cisco ASA/Firepower, Check Point, etc.).
  • Manage firewall rules, NAT policies, VPN tunnels, and access control lists (ACLs) to ensure secure connectivity.
  • Monitor firewall logs and alerts for potential threats, anomalies, or misconfigurations.
  • Review and analyze firewall change requests to ensure alignment with security policies.
  • Conduct regular firewall audits and rule cleanup to improve efficiency and reduce attack surfaces.
  • Collaborate with network, security, and compliance teams on projects and incident response.
  • Maintain documentation of firewall configurations, policies, and change histories.
  • Stay up-to-date with new vulnerabilities, patches, and emerging firewall technologies.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience as a firewall or network security administrator.
  • Hands-on experience with one or more firewall platforms such as:
  • Palo Alto Networks, Fortinet FortiGate, Cisco ASA/Firepower, Check Point, or Juniper SRX
  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP, routing, subnetting, NAT, and VPNs (IPSec/SSL).
  • Familiarity with IDS/IPS, proxy servers, and next-generation firewall (NGFW) features.
  • Proficient in security policy management and firewall rule lifecycle.
  • Experience with log analysis and SIEM tools for security monitoring.

Desirable Skills and Certifications:

  • Relevant certifications such as:
  • PCNSE (Palo Alto), Fortinet NSE, Cisco CCNP Security, Check Point CCSA/CCSE, CISSP, or CEH
  • Scripting or automation experience with Python, Ansible, or Bash.
  • Exposure to cloud firewalls in AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Understanding of compliance frameworks such as ISO 27001, PCI-DSS, or NIST.
