Head of Business (E-Commerce) Electronics & Fashion Division
The Opportunity
RK Group, in collaboration with a leading marketplace, is setting up a new venture to manage end-to-end e-commerce operations across Electronics (primarily mobile phones) and Fashion categories.
We are seeking an experienced Head of Business who will work closely with key stakeholders to ensure operational excellence, strong financial governance, and regulatory compliance during the initial setup and scale-up phase of this venture.
This role will report directly to one of the Directors / Promoters.
Key Responsibilities
1. Operational Excellence
- Partner with marketplace stakeholders to implement and rigorously follow operational SOPs.
- Drive operational efficiency across:
- Collections and claims management as per agreed SLAs
- Returns optimization and reverse logistics management
- Ensure smooth day-to-day operations during the build and scale phase of the business.
2. Stakeholder Management
- Act as the primary point of contact for stakeholders including:
- Marketplace/platform teams
- Brand partners
- Internal cross-functional teams
- Coordinate on operational, financial, and business-related matters.
- Apply strong problem-solving skills to proactively identify and resolve issues.
3. Finance Controllership
- Oversee all accounting operations, including:
- Billing
- Accounts Receivable (A/R) and Accounts Payable (A/P)
- General Ledger (GL) and consolidation
- Cost accounting
- Inventory accounting
- Revenue recognition
- Ensure compliance with all government regulations and manage:
- Local, state, and union government reporting requirements
- Tax filings and statutory compliances
- Prepare and present monthly management reports, including:
- Profit & Loss statements
- Balance sheets
- Cash flow statements
- Track, report, and analyze budget vs. actuals and highlight variances.
- Maintain high standards of quality control over financial transactions and reporting.
- Ensure accurate and timely book closure to reflect true financial position.
- Recommend and implement changes in policies or procedures to improve financial performance.
- Manage all audits, including:
- Statutory audits
- Tax audits
- Internal audits
- Management audits
- Document business processes and accounting policies to strengthen internal controls.
Qualifications & Experience
- Chartered Accountant (CA) with 1015 years of experience.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in an e-commerce environment.
- Proven leadership experience in finance controllership roles.
- Prior experience in setting up finance and compliance processes for a new entity, preferably in e-commerce.
- Strong understanding of:
- Financial policies and processes
- Regulatory and compliance requirements
- Key e-commerce metrics and financial drivers
- High proficiency in financial analysis and reporting.
- Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience leading teams of at least 5 members.
- Prior exposure to electronics and/or fashion e-commerce is a strong advantage.
Location
Bangalore, with travel as required.
