As a Financial Controller within the firm, your key mandate is to validate integrity of the PL & Balance sheet by running various checks and balances.

Financial Controller function is accountable for the integrity of the books and records of the Firm / Lines of Business. The function enables governance of systemic and manual controls, specifically as it impacts the General Ledger & processing systems. As a Financial Controller, your key mandate is to validate integrity of the PL & Balance sheet by running various checks and balances. You will partner & collaborate with multiple Controllers groups, Middle offices, Operations and Technology groups within the firm, to prepare and review financial statements across various JP Morgan legal entities and geographies. Your role will involve working with diverse teams to research, escalate, and resolve exceptions to the general ledger and other interfacing systems, ensuring the integrity of our ledger and risk management systems.

Job responsibilities

  • Partner with groups within the firm to prepare and review financial statements across different JPMorganChase legal entities and geographies.
  • Work with various teams to research, escalate, and clear exceptions to the general ledger and other interfacing systems in a timely manner to ensure the integrity of ledger and risk management systems.
  • Perform monthly general ledger reconciliation and substantiation process.
  • Adhere to various regulatory reporting requirements when performing the reporting and month-end close process.
  • Support various lines of business with business-wise performance reporting and their query resolution.
  • Ensure appropriateness of reference data for account hierarchies.
  • Perform various reconciliations (account level, system, inter-company, etc.) to ensure financial and reporting integrity.
  • Participate in user acceptance tests during projects on system implementation/changes and other business initiatives.

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, And Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related business field (2 years experience).
  • Basic knowledge of industry standards and regulations for US GAAP and/or IFRS standards.

Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, And Skills

  • CA/MBA with 1 year of relevant experience (controller experience is preferred).
  • Strong accounting and finance skills, with the ability to analyze numbers and good knowledge of banking products (e.g., securities, derivatives, etc.).
  • Ability to understand and comprehend data flows and their impacts across the ledger, risk management systems, and reporting systems, along with their interrelationships and dependencies.
  • Excellent MS Excel (data manipulation, macros, VLOOKUPs, pivot tables), MS Access, and MS PowerPoint skills, as well as strong verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to adapt to changing or conflicting priorities and excel during periods of enhanced demand, such as trading or month-end deadlines.
  • Basic understanding of transformation/visualization products such as Alteryx, Tableau, UI Path, and other intelligent solutions (skills in these areas will be an added advantage).
