Role Overview

This role supports the deal team in Preliminary sizing and Underwriting U.S. Commercial Real Estate deals. The Analyst is responsible for a range of tasks from pre-application stage to loan closing. The Analyst role is to effectively analyze all the deal information and complete tasks accordingly. Their findings and insights must be described clearly and concisely as they work through each stage of the deal. The role-holder will be required to work with U.S colleagues to anticipate and fulfil their needs, objectives, and challenges.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review, read, and analyze all deal-related documentation, including due diligence materials and third-party reports.
  • Manage the overall deal process by proactively completing assigned tasks within established deadlines, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and attention to detail.
  • Understand and apply sizer templates and basic underwriting (UW) guidelines for commercial real estate transactions.
  • Draft comprehensive loan narratives, including property overviews, market analyses, third-party summaries, and borrower profiles.
  • Ensure all completed work is properly saved, organized, and accessible to the entire deal team.
  • Provide concise and timely daily updates to the deal team on prioritized tasks, work completed, outstanding items, and next stepsat least once or twice daily as required.
  • Continuously enhance technical knowledge, underwriting skills, and professional behaviors to improve overall performance.
  • Collaborate effectively with local managers and colleagues in a positive, constructive, and professional manner, demonstrating openness to feedback and acting on it promptly.
  • Support and assist team members as needed to ensure smooth deal execution.
  • Act as a Technical Coach by assisting in the development and upskilling of other team members.
  • Understand key performance indicators (KPIs) and consistently work toward exceeding performance expectations.
  • Perform additional tasks or special projects as assigned.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Strong finance and accounting capabilities.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and perform effectively under pressure.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Comfortable using internet-based and web-enabled applications.
  • 23 years of experience within a financial institution managing and underwriting a portfolio of commercial real estate loans, with a focus on Freddie Mac, Fannie Mae, and Bridge Lending.
  • Strong business relationship management skills with the ability to understand and anticipate the needs of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience in reviewing loan contingencies and conditions.
  • Solid understanding of commercial real estate underwriting philosophy and practices.
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field; MBA preferred.
