Job Description

Role :--Finance Controller-Commodity Trading

Exp:-Finance/Financial Controller

or Senior Accountant in a commodity trading company (metals, agri, energy, etc.) or

related trading environment.

Location:- Chennai

Key Responsibilities

Manage day-to-day finance and accounting operations for the commodity trading desk

and related entities (GL, AP, AR, bank reconciliations, accruals, provisions, MIS).

Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in line with

applicable accounting standards and group policies.

Consolidate financials for multiple countries and subsidiaries, ensuring timely and

accurate reporting, eliminations, and inter-company reconciliations.

Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis; provide actionable insights on

trading performance, margins, and costs.

Monitor and analyse P&L by product, market, and entity, including trading margins,

inventory valuation, and hedging impact.

Implement and strengthen internal controls, financial policies, and SOPs across entities

and geographies.

Coordinate with auditors, tax consultants, and regulatory authorities to ensure statutory

and tax compliance in relevant jurisdictions.

Partner with trading, risk, operations, and treasury teams to support deal structuring,

working capital management, and risk mitigation.

Drive process improvements, automation, and standardisation of reporting across

countries and subsidiaries.

Ensure accurate and timely management reports to senior management and group

finance.

Candidate Profile

Education: MBA (Finance)

Experience: 34 years of post-qualification experience as a Finance/Financial Controller

or Senior Accountant in a commodity trading company (metals, agri, energy, etc.) or

related trading environment.

Strong understanding of commodity trading flows, trade lifecycle, and related

accounting (inventory, FX, LC, hedging, fair value, etc.).

Experience handling finance for multiple countries/subsidiaries, including consolidation

and inter-company transactions.

Good knowledge of applicable accounting standards, taxation basics, and statutory

compliances.

Proficiency in Excel and experience with ERP/accounting systems; exposure to trading or

risk systems is an advantage.

Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and numerical skills with attention to detail.

Strong communication skills and ability to work with cross-functional and cross-border

teams.

High integrity, ownership mindset, and ability to operate in a fast-paced, dynamic

trading environment.
