Role summary
We're hiring a bright, methodical Finance & Accounts Executive who will own day-to-day accounting for a premium retail store: inwarding/outwarding, stock audits, statutory compliance, payroll support and store P&L / cashflow monitoring. This role suits someone fast-learning who knows Tally or other accounting software, follows statutory rules, and thinks commercially about growth and ROI.
Key responsibilities
- Day-to-day accounting: Journal entries, sales & purchase invoices, vendor reconciliations, bank & payment reconciliations, petty cash.
- Inwarding / outwarding & inventory accounting: Ensure goods inwarding records, GRN/PO matching, returns processing and update accounting & stock ledgers accurately. Support store team during deliveries.
- Stock audits & compliance: Conduct periodic physical stock checks, investigate variances, maintain audit trail, and prepare variance reports for management. Ensure statutory compliance for retail operations (GST, E-invoicing where applicable) and store-level compliance documents.
- Accounting software: Maintain books on Tally (preferred) or comparable accounting packages; prepare month-end close schedules and assist in MIS preparation.
- Payroll & incentives: Prepare salary payouts, calculate incentives/commission for store staff, and maintain payroll records (with basic PF/ESI/Professional tax understanding).
- Financial reporting & analysis: Assist in preparing monthly P&L, cashflow statements, store level variance analysis (actual vs budget / targets), and basic ROI calculations for promotions & merchandising. Highlight growth opportunities from data.
- Statutory & regulatory: Help prepare documents for GST filings, statutory audits and ad hoc regulatory checks; coordinate with external CA/auditors.
- Ad-hoc commercial support: Model simple ROI for marketing/merchandising spends, support pricing/stock replenishment decisions with basic financial rationale.
Must-have skills & attributes
- B.Com / M.Com / CA-Inter / Commerce graduate (or similar).
- 02 years relevant experience (retail / FMCG / lifestyle retail preferred).
- Proficient in Tally (or similar ERP); comfortable with Excel (VLOOKUP, pivot tables).
- Basic understanding of Indian statutory laws relevant to retail (GST, labour laws, PF/ESI basics).
- Strong attention to detail, integrity for cash & stock handling, ability to meet deadlines.
- Commercial mindset ability to spot cost leaks, margin issues and ROI opportunities.
- Good verbal & written English; Kannada/Hindi beneficial for local store operations.
