We are looking for a strategic and experienced textile professional with over 10 years of experience in knit product development and fabric engineering.
This role is ideal for someone with strong expertise in Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), from raw material sourcing to final product delivery, who can translate global trends into scalable and profitable collections while ensuring operational excellence.
Also known in the industry as:
- Fabric Developer (industry standard title)
- Textile Engineer / Knit Engineer
- Knit Technologist / Fabric Technologist
- Raw Material Developer Knits
- Knitwear Developer
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the Knit Fashion Design & Product Development team
- Manage sourcing from initial inquiry to final order placement
- Conduct market research and benchmark analysis
- Attend buyer meetings, road shows, conferences, and design fairs
- Maintain and develop a global product library
- Stay updated on global trends, fabrics, trims, and embellishments
- Ensure smooth communication with international clients
- Develop and maintain yearly design calendars
- Support marketing with buyer presentations & visual merchandising
- Guide merchandising and marketing teams on trend direction
- Strengthen buyer relationships through ongoing trend sharing
- Report team performance and status to top management
Technical Skills
- Strong experience in fabric design and knit product development (Required)
- ERP systems (SAP, Oracle)
- PLM software
- Adobe Illustrator
- 3D design tools (CLO 3D, Optitex)
- Professional working proficiency in English
Requirements
- Fluent English (Spanish is a plus)
