Position: IB Early Years Homeroom Teacher

Reports to: Primary Coordinator / Head of School

About the Role
The IB EYP Homeroom Teacher is responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating an inquiry-based curriculum that reflects the philosophy of the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IB PYP) for early learners. The teacher fosters a positive, inclusive, safe, and engaging learning environment that supports the holistic development of children in the Early Years.
Key Responsibilities
Instruction & Curriculum
- Design and deliver high-quality, inquiry-based learning experiences aligned with the IB EYP / PYP framework.
- Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs and abilities within the classroom.
- Integrate literacy, numeracy, social-emotional learning, and transdisciplinary themes into daily lessons.
- Support student agency and encourage curiosity, exploration, and problem-solving.
Assessment & Reporting
- Use formative and summative assessment strategies to monitor student progress.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance and development.
- Prepare periodic academic reports for students and share insights during parent-teacher conferences.
- Use IB assessment criteria and school guidelines to document learning outcomes.
Classroom Management
- Establish and maintain a nurturing, inclusive, and orderly classroom environment.
- Promote positive behaviour and set age-appropriate expectations.
- Use effective strategies to support social, emotional, and cognitive development.
Collaboration & Professionalism
- Work collaboratively with the Early Years team, specialists (Music, PE, Art, ICT), and support staff.
- Participate actively in professional development and IB training workshops.
- Contribute to school events, curriculum planning meetings, and community activities.
- Uphold the school's mission, core values, and safety policies at all times.
Parent Communication
- Maintain regular, respectful communication with parents/guardians.
- Share classroom updates, student progress, and upcoming learning goals.
- Address parent concerns professionally and proactively.
Learning Environment
- Create an enriching, purposeful, and child-centered learning space.
- Organize classroom resources, learning stations, and materials effectively.
- Ensure adherence to health, safety, and well-being standards for early learners.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential
- Bachelor's degree in Education / Early Childhood Education / Child Development or related field.
- Valid teaching certification (state/country level) or PGCE/ B.Ed.
- Minimum 2–4 years of teaching experience (preferably in Early Years / IB or international curriculum).
- Strong understanding of IB philosophy and the PYP framework with experience in inquiry-based teaching.
Desirable
- Prior experience in IB EYP / PYP settings.
- Additional qualification in early childhood or child psychology.
- Training in differentiated instruction and assessment strategies.

Requirements
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field
- Early Childhood Education certification or relevant teaching credentials.
- Experience working with young children in an educational setting, preferably in an EYP or preschool environment.
- Knowledge of early childhood development principles, curriculum frameworks, and best practices.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Passion for working with young children and supporting their holistic growth and learning.
