Role Summary
We are seeking an Expert / Principal Software Engineer (10+ years of experience) who operates with architectural depth, product conviction, and uncompromising ownership.
This role is not task execution. It is technical leadership through design, influence, and delivery accountability.
As a Principal Engineer In WCP/M Development
- As a front-end application leader, you will architect and evolve web applications leveraging our microfrontend architecture, framework-agnostic design system, and JavaScript app shell integrating with our core platform via REST APIs.
- As a full-stack technical authority, you will additionally design and build Node.js microservices deployed to Azure Kubernetes Services, providing application-specific business logic and acting as an intelligent boundary between front-end domains and core platform services.
You will be accountable not just for building features, but for ensuring those features are correct, scalable, maintainable, observable, and valuable to customers.
You will influence what gets built, how it gets built, and whether it should be built at all.
Key Responsibilities
Technical & Architectural Leadership
- Lead domain decomposition, domain modeling and domain-driven design (DDD) across microfrontends and application-level microservices.
- Drive architectural decisions for microfrontend and microservices ecosystems, ensuring cohesion across domains.
- Design, implement and deploy Node.js microservices on Azure using RESTful APIs and event-driven patterns.
- Define integration patterns with legacy APIs, including subdomain remapping where required.
- Ensure application service domain-based databases (CosmosDB and/or SQL Server) are designed and integrated appropriately.
- Act as a technical escalation point and architectural decision authority within the team.
UX & Application Engineering
- Partner deeply with UX designers to shape user journeys, not merely implement screens.
- Extend and evolve the design system in collaboration with the application framework team.
- Enforce adherence to reusable UI patterns and ADA WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility standards.
- Drive consistency and craftsmanship across user experiences.
Quality, TDD and Engineering Discipline
- Champion and enforce test-driven development (TDD) as a non-negotiable engineering standard.
- Design robust automated unit, integration and regression test strategies.
- Lead code reviews and refactoring initiatives to elevate team-wide quality.
- Ensure continuous delivery from local to main via CI/CD, with frequent production deployments.
- Establish strong observability standards and instrumentation practices.
- Leverage AI-assisted engineering tools responsibly to increase quality and velocity.
At the Principal level, quality is not a practice — it is a cultural standard you enforce.
Product Ownership & Business Alignment
- Engage product managers and stakeholders at a strategic level.
- Challenge assumptions and surface trade-offs explicitly.
- Translate business goals into domain boundaries and technical decisions.
- Align engineering execution with measurable customer impact.
You are expected to operate with clarity on business value, not just technical elegance.
Ownership & accountability
- Take end-to-end ownership from ideation to production impact.
- Ensure features are complete only when customers receive value — not when code is merged.
- Surface risks early and drive resolution decisively.
- Own production outcomes including reliability, scalability and performance.
- Lead incident resolution and post-incident learning where applicable.
- Raise the performance bar for yourself and the team.
At this level, accountability is assumed, not assigned.
Mentorship & Organizational Influence
- Mentor engineers on DDD, TDD, microservices and event-driven architectures.
- Raise architectural literacy within the team.
- Proactively identify technical debt and modernization opportunities.
- Contribute to hiring decisions and technical evaluation where needed.
Required Qualifications (Hard Requirements)
- 10+ years of professional software engineering experience at a software product company (building software products sold to businesses or consumers); services/consultancy company backgrounds will only be considered if they involve product engineering in healthcare payments or similar domains.
- Strong test-driven development (TDD) background with demonstrated experience writing unit and integration tests and using test-automation suites.
- Proficiency in Javascript programming, with ReactJS for Front end and NodeJs for backend REST APIs..
- Experience with microfrontend/microservices architecture and event-driven architectures, including integration of subdomain application databases (CosmosDB and/or SQL server) as needed.
- Experience deploying services to Azure or other cloud platforms and with modern DevOps practices (CI/CD pipelines, containerization, infrastructure as code).
- Excellent communication and presentation skills; ability to collaborate across functional areas and translate technical topics into business language.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, engineering or a related field.
- Experience developing applications using a microfrontend architecture and design-system.
- Familiarity with healthcare or payment processing domains.
- Experience using generative AI for code generation and documentation.
