Job Description

Key Responsibilities

Regulatory Compliance & Auditing

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable local transportation and workplace safety regulations.
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections of the workplace and vendor sites.
  • Monitor and maintain site safety performance in accordance with ISO 45001:2018 and ISO 14001:2015 standards.
  • Work with vendors to ensure Preventive Maintenance (PM) compliance.

Driver & Operator Competency

  • Review and improve the competency structure for:
  • Drivers
  • MHE Operators
  • Warehouse Operations Staff
  • Ensure training and certification standards are met across roles.

Safety Programs & Training

  • Implement and maintain the Transportation Safety Management System.
  • Develop and deliver training programs for:
  • Defensive Driving
  • Load Securement
  • Mirror Placement Principles
  • Close Quarter Maneuvering
  • Conduct in-vehicle driver training for all active drivers.
  • Ensure MLL Safety Standards are implemented and maintained.
  • Assure drug and alcohol programs comply with transportation regulations.

Incident Management & Reporting

  • Oversee incident management under the Operations Management System (OMS).
  • Coordinate:
  • Incident reporting
  • Investigation
  • Documentation
  • Preventability reviews
  • Act as Gatekeeper for accident preventability decisions.
  • Ensure accountability measures for preventable accidents are executed.

Performance Monitoring & Reporting

  • Prepare and submit:
  • Weekly and monthly safety reports
  • Scorecards with safety metrics and statistics
  • Comprehensive monthly warehouse and logistics safety reports
  • Monitor and analyze:
  • Safety Leading and Lagging Indicators
  • BASIC (Behavioral Analysis and Safety Improvement Cycle) Scores
  • Drive continuous improvement through new safety initiatives.

Legal & Safety Standards Compliance

  • Ensure legal compliance with all safety regulations at the site.
  • Mentor and build competency in:
  • Safety management protocols
  • Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Communicate the Accident Management Protocol to area and local managers.

Audits & Vendor Compliance

  • Conduct periodic audits of private fleet and vendor practices.
  • Develop and implement a self-inspection protocol for all sites.
  • Inspect 3rd party administration compliance with MLL requirements.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Knowledge of ISO 45001:2018 & ISO 14001:2015.
  • Experience in transportation, logistics, and warehousing safety.
  • Strong auditing, reporting, and training skills.
  • Familiarity with EHS legal frameworks and compliance in India.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and documentation capabilities.
