Role & responsibilities
1.GST Compliance and Filing:
- Ensure timely and accurate filing of GST returns (GSTR-1, GSTR-3B, GSTR-9, GSTR-9C, etc.) for the company.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of GST rates, exemptions, and amendments, ensuring the company remains compliant with changing laws.
- Review GST documentation and ensure proper invoicing, record-keeping, and reporting for all transactions.
2.GST Advisory and Consultation:
- Advise internal teams (finance, accounting, and procurement) on GST-related matters and best practices.
- Provide guidance on complex GST issues, such as classification of goods and services, valuation, and taxability.
- Recommend strategies to optimize the companys GST position, including input tax credit management and cost-saving initiatives.
3.GST Audits and Assessments:
- Liaise with tax authorities during GST audits or investigations and assist in resolving any issues or disputes.
- Prepare and review documents required for GST audits and assessments.
- Identify potential risks or areas of non-compliance and take proactive steps to address them.
4.Documentation and Record Keeping:
- Ensure that all required GST documents are maintained in accordance with statutory requirements.
- Assist in preparing necessary documents for internal and external audits.
5.Training and Development:
- Conduct training sessions for finance and accounts teams to ensure understanding of GST requirements and processes.
- Keep the team informed about updates and changes in GST laws.
6.GST-related Reporting:
- Prepare periodic GST reports for management, highlighting key insights, risks, and compliance status.
- Provide recommendations for improvement in GST-related processes and controls.
7.GST Reconciliation:
- Reconcile GST data between books of accounts, GST returns, and payments.
- Work closely with the accounting team to ensure proper alignment between input and output GST, and handle discrepancies.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A post-graduate degree (e.g., CA, CMA, MBA) or GST certification is a plus.
- Experience: At least 4-5 years of experience in GST compliance, tax consulting, or a similar role.
Knowledge:
- In-depth understanding of Indian GST laws, including GST Act, Rules, Notifications, Circulars, and relevant case laws.
- Familiarity with the GST filing system and tax software.
- Knowledge of GST related to import/export, interstate transactions, reverse charge mechanism, and export incentives.
Skills:
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.

- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other accounting software.
