Key responsibilities

  • Responsible for maintenance at the time of equipment, sub stations, Gate, Administration building, staff colony, workstations, fire pump
  • The engineer must have strong knowledge of HV safety, arcflash hazards, and electrical compliance standards
  • Must know the Substation billing system and be able to be analyzed.
  • Carry out routine checks and inspections and Analyse test results and recommend corrective measures of:
  • Power transformers oil level, temperature, silica gel, OLTC operations, cooling fans, radiators.
  • HV/MV circuit breakers VCB, ACB, SF6, GIS.
  • CTs, PTs, surge arresters, isolators, bus systems.
  • HV/LV switchgear, protection panels, and control wiring.
  • Transformer IR, Tan delta, BDV, DGA (Dissolved Gas Analysis), winding resistance.
  • Breaker timing tests, contact resistance, insulation resistance.
  • Thermography for hotspots on cables, busbars, panels.
  • Earth testing, Cable fault
  • Fault Analysis, Troubleshooting & Repair. Respond to electrical breakdowns in substations and carry out rootcause analysis. Fault Analysis, Troubleshooting & Repair
  • Diagnosed faults related to: Protection relay trips, Transformer alarms or abnormal conditions, Breaker malfunctions

Vendor Management & Spares

  • Coordinate with OEMs for servicing major equipment.
  • Maintain stock of relays, breaker spares, transformer accessories, and critical components.
  • Verify HT Electricity bills thoroughly:
  • Units consumed (kWh / kVAh)
  • MD charges
  • TOD slabs (if applicable)
  • Power factor incentives/penalties
  • Wheeling & cross-subsidy charges
  • Electricity duty and taxes
  • Good understanding of green power initiatives and Solar system .
  • CEA Regulations (as applicable to operation & maintenance of electrical installations)
  • Ensure all substation equipment, installations, and work practices comply with the CEA Regulations.
  • Statutory norms from State Electricity Board
  • IS/IEC/IEEE safety standards
  • Implementing maintenance practices to achieve optimum equipment availability with minimum downtime while adhering strictly to safety standards and perform preventive maintenance when equipments are ideal
  • Prioritizing the issues as per severity
  • For Electrical Engineer Basic knowledge on PLC and Drive system
  • Routine inspection and checks of Emergency Generators, Administration Building lift, Fire system and Yard Flood lights.
  • Ensure that the company health, safety & environment policy and procedures are observed.
  • To report any abnormality observed on equipment on priority to the Supervisor
