POSITION TITLE: EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, US India Tax Forum

LOCATION:US India Strategic Partnership Forum, Delhi Office Sanatan, IILM Centre for Arts & Ideas, Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyay Marg, New Delhi

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

To lead, build, and grow the US-IndiaTaxForum (https://usindiataxforum.org/) - a specialinitiativeof the US-India Strategic Partnership Forum. This leadership role requires a deep and strategic understanding of Indian and foreign tax regimes and theprinciples of international taxation.

The Executive Director will be required to spearhead and execute initiatives, provide direction, and support the industry and the Governmenton criticaltaxpolicy issues.

This position reports directly to the Managing Directorof the India office at USISPF.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

  • Strategic Leadership: Run the US-India Tax Forum. Manage taxpolicy advocacy, drive strategy, and be at theforefrontof developments in thetaxand regulatory environment by tracking legislative, judicial, and administrative updates through official channels and expert networks.

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Lead high-level engagements and build partnerships with senior government officials, regulators, industry leaders, and alliance partners to promote policy recommendations and foster dialogue ontax-related matters. Establish and maintain relationships with both public and private sector stakeholders.

  • Policy Research and Advocacy: Oversee the preparation of detailed submissions, white papers, and policy briefs on industry-widetaxconcerns as well as individual company-specific issues. Represent the organization in high-profile public consultations, conferences, and industry panels.

  • Team Leadership and Member Engagement: Manage thetaxpolicy team, ensuring alignment with organizational goals. Strengthen the value proposition of theTaxForum by actively engaging with members, gathering their views, organizing meetings with government bodies, and addressing their concerns effectively.

  • Program and Event Management:Craft and deliver programs that elevate the Forum's profile and impact.

  • Industry Collaboration: Represent USISPF in industry groups, contributing to collective responses to regulatory changes and public consultation papers. Leverage these platforms to amplify member concerns and advocacy positions.

  • Thought Leadership: Drive innovative ideas and provide strategic direction to expand the reach and influence of the US IndiaTaxForum.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Leadership Experience: 20+ years of experience intaxpolicy with a proven track record in advocacy and stakeholder engagement at a senior level. Government experience orinternationalexperience is a plus.

  • Educational Background: A bachelor's degree in finance, economics, or related fields is essential. A master's degree or equivalent specialization in public policy, business, ortaxation.

SKILLS AND EXPERTISE:

  • A complete grasp of India'staxation landscape
  • An understanding of Indian tax administration and key stakeholders.
  • Exceptional research, analytical, and writing skills, with the ability to articulate complex issues clearly.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills with experience in managing diverse teams and stakeholders.

CULTURAL AND CONTEXTUAL AWARENESS:

  • Familiarity with India's cultural nuances, business environment, and cross-border economic policies is critical.
  • This leadership position requires a proactive and strategic mindset, the ability to manage complex relationships, and a commitment to fostering U.S.-India collaboration ontaxand regulatory matters.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATION:

  • Past Government service
  • Strong knowledge of and background in Tax (direct and indirect taxes)
  • Highly effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills; demonstrated ability to effectively and comfortably interact at the highest corporate, political, and educational institution levels.
  • Ability to maintain the highest personal levels of ethical conduct, confidentiality, and integrity, with a strong professional reputation in the industry.
  • Self-starter with proven track record of successfully working with a wide array of functional groups across an organization and cultures, as well as working independently.
  • Ability to identify and understand key technical aspects of corporate operations in legislative and regulatory proposals.
  • Ability to influence, negotiate with, and persuade others as required.
  • Must be flexible and demonstrate strong judgment/decision-making skills and political acumen.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and foster effective relationships and networks with others
