About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented Estimation Engineer with a B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering to prepare accurate cost estimates and bid proposals for mechanical projects. The ideal candidate will analyze project drawings, perform quantity takeoffs, and collaborate with engineering and procurement teams to deliver competitive and profitable bids.

Key Responsibilities

- Review and interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, and tender documents to understand project scope

- Perform material takeoffs for HVAC, piping, plumbing, equipment, and related mechanical components

- Prepare detailed cost estimates including materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs

- Develop Bill of Quantities (BOQ) and cost breakdowns aligned with client requirements

- Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotations for pricing accuracy

- Conduct risk assessments and recommend mitigation strategies for cost uncertainties

- Use estimating software and MS Excel to prepare accurate and organized estimates

- Coordinate with design, procurement, and project management teams to ensure estimate completeness

- Prepare and submit bid proposals within deadlines, including inclusions, exclusions, and assumptions

- Conduct site visits when required to assess field conditions affecting project costs

- Track bid results and compare estimated vs. actual costs to improve future accuracy

- Support value engineering initiatives to optimize costs without compromising quality

Qualifications & Skills

Education:

- B.Tech / B.E. in Mechanical Engineering (required)

Experience:

- 2–5 years of experience in estimation, tendering, or cost engineering for mechanical projects (HVAC, piping, plumbing, or EPC)

- Fresh graduates with strong analytical skills and internship experience may also be considered

Technical Skills:

- Proficiency in MS Excel and estimation software

- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications

- Familiarity with AutoCAD or similar design tools is a plus

- Knowledge of material takeoff processes and construction methodologies

Soft Skills:

- Strong analytical and numerical abilities with high attention to detail

- Excellent communication and coordination skills for cross-functional collaboration

- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple bids simultaneously

- Commercial awareness and understanding of project profitability
