Technical Leadership & Project Delivery
- Provide expert technical leadership and quality oversight on all ESIA and ESG assignments, ensuring deliverables are technically sound, unbiased, and meet the highest professional standards.
- Prepare and review of comprehensive ESIA reports, Environmental & Social Due Diligence (ESDD), Environmental & Social Management Plans (ESMP), Environmental & Social Action Plans (ESAP), and associated documentation for renewable energy projects throughout the project lifecycle (feasibility, design, construction, operation, and decommissioning).
- Lead and manage specialized technical studies, including (but not limited to) baseline environmental & social surveys, biodiversity & ecology assessments, hydrology & flood risk assessments, climate change vulnerability & adaptation studies, land-use & livelihood assessments, and cumulative impact assessments.
- Conduct and/or supervise Environmental & Social Due Diligence for project financing, acquisitions, and refinancing, identifying risks and recommending mitigation measures to protect project bankability and investor confidence.
- Develop and deliver periodic environmental & social monitoring reports, compliance audits, and performance monitoring for operational renewable energy assets, ensuring timely submission to lenders, regulators, and clients.
Quality, Compliance & Standards Assurance
- Ensure all ESIA/ESG deliverables maintain exceptional quality, consistency, and full alignment with international standards and frameworks, including IFC Performance Standards, Equator Principles, World Bank Environmental & Social Framework, ADB Safeguard Policy Statement, and relevant local/national/international regulations
- Establish and continuously improve internal quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) processes, checklists, templates, and review protocols to uphold SgurrEnergy's reputation for technical excellence and impartiality.
- Stay abreast of evolving global ESG regulations, reporting frameworks, and best practices in renewable energy and integrate them into service offerings and internal capabilities.
Team Management & Capability Building
- Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing multi-disciplinary ESIA/ESG team (environmental assessors, ecologists, hydrologists, social development specialists, GIS experts, etc.), including recruitment, performance management, training, and career development.
- Foster cross-functional collaboration with SgurrEnergy's engineering, design, due diligence, and construction monitoring teams to deliver integrated, lifecycle solutions for renewable energy projects.
- Promote knowledge sharing, innovation, and continuous professional development within the team to enhance technical depth and service differentiation.
Stakeholder Engagement & Risk Management
- Represent SgurrEnergy in client meetings, lender technical reviews, public consultations, and regulatory engagements related to ESIA/ESG matters.
- Identify, assess, and proactively manage environmental & social risks across projects, providing strategic advice to clients on mitigation, community engagement, grievance redressal mechanisms, and sustainable development initiatives.
- Contribute to thought leadership through white papers, webinars, conference presentations, and LinkedIn/articles on ESIA/ESG trends in renewable energy.
Strategic Leadership & Business Growth
- Lead the overall ESIA and ESG business vertical for SgurrEnergy, driving its growth as a core service offering aligned with the company's 360 renewable energy consultancy model (solar PV, wind, BESS, hybrid projects) and power sector in general.
- Develop and execute the annual business strategy for ESIA/ESG services, including revenue targets, service expansion (e.g., climate risk, biodiversity net gain, carbon footprinting), and positioning SgurrEnergy as a preferred partner for developers, investors, lenders, and EPC contractors in the renewable energy sector.
- Identify and pursue new business development opportunities in ESIA/ESG across domestic and international renewable energy markets; prepare high-quality technical and commercial proposals, lead client pitches, and support pre-bid due diligence.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with funding agencies (IFC, ADB, World Bank, multilateral banks), regulatory bodies, and key stakeholders to secure repeat and referral business.
Additional Responsibilities
- Support the company's overall sustainability goals and internal ESG performance (e.g., carbon neutrality initiatives).
- Monitor project budgets, timelines, and profitability for the ESIA/ESG portfolio; ensure timely invoicing and collections.
- Travel domestically and internationally as required for site visits, client meetings, and project execution (typically 20% of time).
RequirementsTechnical & Software Skills
- Proficiency in accounting software such as Zoho Books, SAP or similar ERP systems.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel (advanced functions, pivots, VLOOKUP) for data analysis and reporting.
- Familiarity with GST portal, TDS reconciliation tools, and e-invoicing systems.
